so where do y'all keep your rpms while riding?  i try to keep the bike @ 5-8k, is that the optimum powerband for the GS?

Around town, I'll keep it around 6k.  I'm not lugging if I need to scoot and its above that 5k-ish resonence where all the plastic buzzes.  IIRC, that is around the torque peak.

In the hills, I'll stay around 7k-9k (in the peak power area).  I hate getting caught in the wrong gear on an up-hill turn.  It may be a bit noisy but I like how my (stock) exhaust sounds and I also wear ear plugs.

I keep it at around 5-6K when I'm in the city and shift around 6-7K. Thats when the bike just starts getting loud as hell. when I'm on the highway I tend to ride at higher rpms though.
