Hello Everyone,
My name's Paul I've been riding for the better part of my life, mostly in the dirt and some street expirience on a KZ440 and a 81 750 nighthawk.
Well I took the required safety class and got my Texas Motorcycle license.
Along with some spending cash, I think its time to look at a bike..
Anyways,
Theres a 2001 GS500 for sale localy for 1600 with only 6k miles. I plan on using it for commuting to and from school (arround 40 miles either way) and just pleasure. It seems to be an attractive bike, good on gas and a little more sporty than what I'm use to.
The thing I'm a little worried about is I'm 6'2-3 I was wondering if it would be a comfortable bike for riding, or if I would look like a gorrila of some sort..
I'm checking it out tomorrow morning, So I guess I will find out tomorrow!
I would appreciate anyones info or opinion on the matter,
Thanks!
- paul
I'm 6'4 and have no problems, it's a nice and roomy bike, with a pretty upright riding position.
there are a lot of taller guys in here that seem to have no problem. I have somewhat long legs,(33inch inseam).I find no real discomfort in riding position, other than the bike is halfway between an old school upright seating position and a sportbike position, which if you want to tuck in a bit at higher speeds, makes for a slightly weird foot/ankle placement. Other than that, I have no problems.
Sounds excellent, Thanks alots commuter and ghost!
I'll let you know if I come home with it tomorrow..
I'm "only" 5'10", but have a 33 or 34 inch inseam and I fit fine on it. The bars are a little bit of a reach for me since while I have long legs I have short arms, but I'm getting used to it.
I think you'd be fine. That sounds like a good price for a pretty recent bike.

Well I'm 5'2 and I'm very jealous of all of you. But when I let my boyfriend who is 6'0 ride my bike he looked good on it. I think the bike is beefy enough for a tall guy like you.
Mine is lowered to the lowest possible height and I still have a hard time reaching the ground comfortably sometimes. Be thankful you have other bike options, b/c this was about the only bike that I could use without settling for a ninja (ughh)
