Title: GSXR Rear wheel swap info.
Post by: sprint_9 on August 31, 2004, 10:19:13 PM
Ive checked out Pantablo's and Joris's sights and was just wondering if any of you have any more information that is involved with performing this swap?  On Joris's sight it mentions an inner spacer is needed within the GSXR spacer because it has a larger diameter then the stock GS, but on Pantablo's sight it mentions nothing of this. Which setup would be better or worse?  Any info appreciated, Thanks.

You can use the gsxr spacer. The inside diameter is slightly bigger than the GS axle, but it's no problem.
The bearings need to be replaced with GS bearings and you must use the GS sprocket hub. The brake caliper mount needs to be milled down since the wheel hub is wider. Taking 3/8" off the bottom portion will do the trick.

Bob-nice new avatar!

Sprint- The info on my site came from Werase643 (Ken) from this forum. he has done several of them. I had read Joris' and Ken's setups and it seemed to me that Ken's (on my site) was the easier method, particularly in regard to that center spacer. The reason you can use the gsxr one is that its only function really is to keep the bearings from collapsing inward, so it doesnt have to be the same diameter as the axle. The bearings hold the axle in place.

Good luck with it.
