Still on the lookout for a project bike. Yesterday I was painting some of my outside railings and metal garden furniture using "Hammerite" hammered green. It has dries up like a pearlescent-metalic B.R.G.
I could not help but think it was a great finish and colour for a bike, not the GS but whatever the project turns out to be. I remembered in the mid fifties my father hand painting his 1932 Morris 8 (which was Europe's model T type iconic vehicle) He used a paint specifically for hand painting vehicles called "Brushing Belco" which is probably extinct. I could try spraying "Hammerite" but I rather fancy doing it old style with several coats rubbed down each time using the hammered green. Hammerite is a proven five-year rust stopper which adds to the attraction.
The point of this long ramble is does anyone have any experience with hand painting the bike, pro & cons, pitfalls etc,????
This is a post of mine before. I had to redo a tank might be some helpful info in there.
