Title: A Drop vs a Crash
Post by: pantablo on September 06, 2004, 01:18:35 AM
I've seen this confusion in lots of posts on this board and other boards so to clarify:

A drop is when you are not moving or are moving at a walking pace (give or take).  Loss of balance and inexperience with the throttle/clutch usually leads to this as well as braking while front wheel turned in a slow speed maneuver. Bike hits the ground but doesn't usually slide in the case of a drop.  New riders are encouraged to buy a used bike because they tend to drop their bikes. They sometimes crash too.

A crash is more obvious but is not a drop in the newbie sense. lets keep the distinction between them clear. usually more damage to the bike. usually while moving.

[this isnt directed to Goat, who just crashed his bike. his post made me think of it though]

Nothing to see, move along...

Aww, that was all when I was younger...

Except I didn't bin it, highside, munched it, stacked or wadded.

Can't remember if it was a '62 or a '66 Plymouth; one of 'em was the mailman when I was crossing the street on my tricycle when I was 3 and half years old. Can't remember what kind of Plymouths the post office used back in '71.
