I sold my GS500 to my roommate, she uses it to travel back and forth to work each day. Yesterday she got back to her bike for the ride home and found the GS lying on its left side in the parking lot. On first inspection she found no damage just a couple of little scatches. On her ride home she nearly plowed into the back of a car because the front brake didnt work at all.
I used to frequent this forum when the GS was mine so I know one of the Guru's will have the answer :)
I took a quick look at the brake, but its dark outside already so couldn't get a good inspection. The brake lever pulls in with no resistance, looks like the Fluid is still topped up with no leak. Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks.
check fluid level first thing, try bleeding it, if the fluid was low when it fell over it might have happend, but, check the level first and formost
It sounds like the brake lever has only been pumped a couple of times, so even if there is a leak below the master cylinder the level in the reservoir could still be pretty high.
Since it was dark, you may have missed a loose bleeder valve or a puncture or cut in the brake line. Inspect both, with a (paper) towel if necessary. Any fluid on the towel? If not, pump the lever once and check again.
This is an interesting one....
