Title: So I went to wally world and found a 4 stroke motorcycle oil
Post by: TheGoodGuy on September 09, 2004, 11:00:08 PM
made specifically for motorcycles..

however teh weight on it got me screwed up.. it said 70 weight..

yup you read that right.. 70 weight.. srinath you need these stuff.. they wont evaporate like water.

The cost of it was like 1.59/qt.. not bad..

so any thoughts?

By the way I found walmart is cheap to buy bulk quantity oil.. its so funny i havnet been to walmart's automotive section in years. The last time I visited it was in december, but i ended up going there for the audio/car stereo removal tool for my car.  This was the first time i actually looked around for things in that dept.

You're seriously going to use 70 weight oil in your 10W-40W engine?  That 70 weight is almost as thick as gear oil.  Are you sure it's for the engine?

Valvoline 70wt is there at walmart, and I was using 60wt a few years ago in a futile attempt to cut down on the oil useage... its not bad... a bike with well worn bearings will be able to flow 70wt when cold through its galleys and bearings and actually work OK.. However ever since my starter clutch started clunking ~ a year + ago, I started to believe it was the oil, and I went to 10W40 accel. I also was using Lucas oil stabiliser and hence I thought that was somehow causing it. Anyway, 60wt in winter, and 70 wt in summer... mmmm good stuff...
BTW Manjul Castrol bike oil is there at walmart too in 20W50 and 10W40, and of course Accel 10W40.
Cool.
