Dang it Pablo, I gotta stop attempting every swap/mod I see on this site, I'll never pass any of my classes AND miss all the So Cal rides!!!

Jeez that looks hot though...Wish I had an '01...How about a solo seat that'll bolt on to a pre-01?  Anybody wanna do a little 'glassing?

Pablo-

I meant a solo-type seat that would use the GSXR plastic and rider seat, and somewhat look like the 'Busa tail effect.  Like a solo seat cover on that curvy GSXR plastic, I guess.  I've seen James' stuff, and that's another thing I'd like to do eventually...

Title: GSXR...
Post by: The Buddha on September 11, 2004, 06:21:39 PM
OK GSXR and R6 tails do fit, but they are fatter at the back of the rider seat than it optimal... I have tried fitting a Honda F4i stock tail on and its perfect, not too wide and definetely looks right. Now the right choice will be a race tail with a mouse pad for the seat glued onto the base tail section ... like JamesG's.
Cool.

Im in the process of ordering an R6 tail, ill post pics when i get it, and get it on. Also, a guy form another site got in contact with me wanting to do customer CF work for my bike. Fairings and whatnot, and all id have to do is pay for materials and put his logo on my bike. Sounds fair to me :).

Srinath-any certain years on those F4i tails? Have you tried them on the '04's?
Dan-Really want to see the pics on the R6 when you get it done.
Thanks, Dave

Well my tail is in the mail. I ended up going with the '00 GSXR 750 tail because of its availability as opposed to my R6 tail idea. As soon as i get it ill start taking digi pics and posting them up for everyone, as well as a complete walkthrough. Hopefully ill get some sort of custom title for it *wink* lol. Have a great christmas everyone.

Sure thing, im so anxious, but i still need to order a seat and a rear seat cowl. And i gotta find a way to utilize the stock locking mechanism, and figure out what im gonna do about undertail....oh boy, lol.

OK update, ill be starting my own thread for this soon btw. The tail is being shipped saturday as per my instructions, im going out of town tomorrow for the remainder of the weekend and didnt want it to arrive at my doorstep when im not there. Once its in hand ill take pics of it. here is a list of things i know ill need to do.

Seat lock, get it to work with the solo seat cowl/rear seat.
Undertail, cannot use the stock one to my knowledge, but i may be able to use a GSXR undertail :).
rearpegs, not sure if they are gonna get in the way at all, may hack em off.
OH, and trim down the stock GSXR seat to fit my tank. (and try to cover up the scratches caused by my seat where it mounts(actually took the paint down to the primer from the things the seat rests on the tank))

Anyways, if anyone has any picture requests, make em now before i start gettin to work. I will of course be taking pictures during the whole thing.

Oh I didn't see this post again till now  :?
Anyway Yea F4 was 99-00, the F4i's tail also looked the same though ... Not sure of any differences ... but looked like it should fit ... Its not as wide as the R6 and not as sharp edged ... makes it look nicer IMHO ...
Cool.

99-00 F4 had the banana seat
01-03 F4i had a split seat
04-05 F4i is back to the F4s banana seat only with a grab rail
choose accordingly
