The light on my speedo is gone.
Is there anything special with removing the housing and changing the bulb?
If so, can someone with said Clymer post a pic?

from what i remember:
take a small watch scrwe, put it in the odo reset knob and remove it.. by unscrewing it. then under the face (look from front of the bike on the base there are 2 nuts, take them off and you can take off the grey/black cover..

Let's say you had a Clymer manual in-hand. The smart thing is to check the index, right? Right! So you look for "Speedometer". It's not anywhere in the index. :o
OK, how about "Bulb"? Nope.
Uh, "Electrical"? Or maybe "Lights"? OK, that'll have to do:

You'll probably start by looking up the "Lighting system" pages. And six pages of browsing later you strike it rich by finding the Meter Assembly - Indicator Lights Lamp Replacement section. It even starts out pretty promising, until you realize that it's talking you through replacing the "dummy lights" and not those in the gauges.
But right at the end Mr. Clymer throws you a bone:

Ah! But ... where in this chapter? You hunt down the first page of the chapter in hopes of finding a table of contents, but no luck. So you go back to browsing through the chapter sequentially. Four pages of Switches info after the above "bone" you magically run into this section (rearranged for GStwin layout purposes):

I've said it before, but it bears repeating:
If you're going to "play mechanic" and open up your engine at some point, definitely get the Clymer. The Haynes manual is also based on a complete teardown, but the Clymer seems to be more detailed (compare the number of pages) and comes from a different perspective sometimes, which can be useful.
But for everything that most GS owners will try to do themselves, the Haynes is a LOT easier to work with, and I usually prefer its photos too. I have used the Haynes almost exclusively for everything I have done to my bike. Chapters 0 and 1 alone are worth the price!
QUESTION: My understanding from way back was that if you follow the
Buy a Repair Manual link above, everything you order direct from Amazon in that session will result in a "kickback" to GStwin. Is that right, John?
Because if so ... folks could do a search on Amazon, buy the Haynes manual, and still contribute to
