Hey everyone,
I was trailering my bike to the shop for repair (I know I could've done the work...but it's just not worth my time) and about halfway there I see the bike fall over. Apparently one of the straps failed (I'm still trying to figure out how...but anyway). The bike landed on it's right side against an angle-iron rail on the trailer. DAMAGE REPORT: A good sized ding on the gas tank (3 inches long running parallel to the ground) and a scraped up "GS500" sticker in the rear fender. Luckily all I need is a new sticker for the back and that "oops" disappears...but up front I've got paint flaking off the gas tank. How would I go about touching up this scraped paint and sealing it so the rest of the factory paint doesn't flake off? Could I use some sort of clear-coat spray-on paint or what? Should I worry about the structural integrity of the gas tank? I checked and I couldn't find any punctures or any spilled gas, it just dented in. Is this probably okay? (I'll post some pics. as soon as I get the bike back from carb cleaning and rejetting).
Thanks for any words of advice. Now we all know my first bike was a used bike...because I knew I'd ding it somehow and I'd rather this method than some bad judgement in a curve.
