Post by: treybrad on September 18, 2004, 03:21:09 PM
So I don't want to cheap out on a chain.. is this one a piece of crap?:

eBay Link... (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=35600&item=2489750662&rd=1)

Looks like just a no-name chain.. what do I need to look for in a chain? I don't know what usually fails w/ a cheap one..

Check this thread out, Kerry posted a chart that he made with a variety of chains and prices on it, It helped me out.

I don't know which specific thread sprint_9 had in mind, but you can find a couple dozen threads with good info by doing a Search for chains sprockets.

Meanwhile, here's a direct link to my GS500 Chains & Sprockets (http://www.bbburma.net/Documents/GS500_Chains&Sprockets.txt) chart.

Finally, I'm with SPARKPLUG - that eBay chain looks fine to me.  But go ahead and compare the price to some of the brand-new chains on that chart.

Not a bad price: about $5 cheaper than most 520-110 O-ring chains, and only $6.50 in shipping.
