so all you have to do is convert your rear brake to a foot clutch and you'll be back on the road. :(   so what kind of gloves were you wearing?

This was a good gear-check for me. I'm satisfied with how the jacket, helmet, boots and pants performed, but the gloves let me down. I've seen a lot of frikkin' armoured gauntlets for sale at motorcycle shops; I'm getting a pair.

Yikes!  That's frustrating.

I'm glad you're up-and-around.

Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww on the finger!! I'd heard good things about Icon gear too, didn't look like their gloves took very good care of you though. Where did the hand get caught? Glad the damage wasn't worse, heal quick.

Looks like she hit you abaft your leg. You came out very lucky, IMO. Glad it wasn't worse.

If she does not have insurance, sue her.

Hope you feel better.

I've been thinking of getting some better gloves too, might just do that now.

Sorry to hear about a wreck, esp. when its not even remotely your fault.  I hope you heal quick!

Yow. Glad it wasn't worse. I sure hope she has insurance. At least she gave you the right contact information, so you can go after her, or your insurance company can go after her.

I'm glad you walked away from this one :o

I hope the cops nail that lady to the wall for giving false insurance information and running the red :x

Wow...glad you came out of that with as little damage to you as she did...could have been alot worse...

Have your bike looked over with a microscopetho ... a tweaked frame is sometimes hard to see. I've been screwed over by the no insurance deal... get a lawyer....

Oopsie on the part of the cop - I finally got in touch with the woman, and he had written down the wrong insurance company.  :P  She's insured.

There's a local body shop that does bikes and sponsors racers; they know their stuff.  I'm going to have them look over the frame and suspension.

The adjuster asked about my helmet brand and price, so it sounds like they're amenable to replacing damaged gear.  I'm going for new jacket, helmet, and boots; all were damaged.

You were hit while cruising on the low-slung Savage, yet went over the Geo?  Fortunate bounce to say the least!  :)    One reason I favor the standard riding position over the low reach sportbike and/or locked in place  cruiser position is because it's much easier to  jump in the event of an anticipated collision.

Actually, everything in between the initial impact and me picking myself up off of the ground is a blank - post-traumatic amnesia, pretty common.  I reconstructed it that way because:

-The car impacted me on my left, no question (and I do remember that).
-As I was getting up, the nice guy who stopped and helped was picking the bike up from its right side.
-Most damage was on my hand (complete break, fracture, laceration).
-Second most damage was abrasion on the helmet, my left.
-Behind that, abrasion on the jacket's left shoulder.
-Finally, some abrasion on the right forearm.
-No damage to legs.
-I was ahead of the bike and to its left.

So, from that, and looking at the bike - I'm guessing she hit it on the left, getting the front fork and footpeg; I went over the front corner of her hood as I continued forward and the bike was pushed to the right; I hit hand-first, broke the finger, head hit and scraped, shoulder hit and scraped, flopped down on forearm, then all of the way down.  Bike, sans rider, toppled to the right.

Reasonable?

Best wishes on your recovery.  It's possible that the finger hit the car's grille or windshield wiper.   Did you roll all the way over the back end of the Geo, or fall off one of the sides?

I have to say that the Savage looks amazingly good for having taken direct fire amidships!  :o
