Post by: AGil on September 25, 2004, 07:47:47 AM
I would like to install an aftermarket belly pan on my GS. Which other bike's belly pan is suitable or can be adjusted to the GS?
Thanx!

There is a guy on e-bay that sells a multiple-sanctioning body approved pan that works on the GS.  I'd start there if you need one for racing.  If its for looks I would try to get one of the old Suzuki accessory ones (I really like mine).  Wild Hare also sells numerous lowers for the GS.  Best of luck in your search.

My friend modified a EX 500s belly pan pretty easily.

I think they offer a GS500 specific one on the UK site www.gs500e.co.uk
They had a small number made to see how they would go.

There are some GS specific pans which will be easiest to install, but most expensive. There are also numerous universals you can adapt - anything that is intended to mount to the lower frame tubes should work. Just be aware that most come with hardware to work with round tubes and the GS tubes aren't round, so you'll have to work around that. Also look at width since most of the universals are really aimed at the standard Japanese fours and the GS is much narrower.
