HI EVERYONE THANKYOU FOR THE ADVISE ON FUEL TAP POSITIONS, WHAT I THOUGHT WAS FUEL IS SPARK FAILURE AFTER 6-7 MILES RIDING HAVE REPLACED LEFT HAND COIL AND CHECKED WIRING PLUGS AND VISUALLY CHECKED PULSE GENERATOR COILS ALL LOOK OK , IS THERE A TEST PROCEDURE FOR THE P.G. COILS OR CONTROL UNIT AND DOES ANYONE KNOW IF A FAILURE OF ONE COIL CAN KNOCK OUT THE SPARK TO ONE CYLINDER, LET THE BIKE COOL DOWN FOR A FEW HOURS AND ALL IS WELL UNTIL SIX MILES LATER !!! MANY THANKS
are you sure you are losing spark? Or perhaps unexplained loss of combustion.

For the pulse generator coils, start at
THIS POST and read to the bottom of the page.
From everything I've read, there IS no test for the "black box". :x Someone even tried taking theirs to the dealer like one of the repair manuals suggests, and THEY didn't have any way of testing it. YMMV if you have a top-notch dealer....

Don't know about the first part, but failure after warmup is a fairly common phenomenon with electrical systems. If the failure is in your pulse generator circuit it may be a bit tricky to test. Haul your meter 6 miles down the road with you?
6-7 miles of riding...and no spark... OK dead give away sign... crank trigger... BTW before it cuts out get on the highway or somewhere where you can sustain high revs... atleast 5K... and ride it... see if it still cuts out at 6-7 miles... it wont... The instant you shut off the throttle it will go to 1 cyl... crank trigger. Mine died at 35K and testing the leads on it proved futile... BTW resistance between terminals should drop to 0 when you bring a metallic object close to the prong... else it should be 2.2K ... or whatever the manual says... or whatever the other one is... eventually it will get bad enough to last 2-3 seconds and then cut off... BTW before swapping parts you supposed to test them... To Coils swap side to side and see if it switches sides, then read the electrical diaghram and make a set of 4 wire spade male and female sets and run the right cylinder on the left ones trigger, but swap the plug wires so it still fires the left... if it switces sides then crank trigger else its the black box. If you blow a black box, please send it to me... I cant fix it, but I need a busted one to try to learn to fix it... BTW I have prior experience fixing Kawi and yamaha ones... so its very doable. I'll do it and run it on my bike and test it and share the knowledge... as always...even when no one is listening... :?
Cool.
