i have a friend with a project bike...and found that the valves are too tight...
what are the symtoms of it and what happens if it was run for a while like that?...
will just adjusting it fix the strange running motor?
The bike will run very much like its losing gas and compression... whihc it is and certainly causes lots of issues with power and starting and idling.
You should fix it else it will get worse... and might need valve replacement.
Cool.

what kind of damage will there be if it was ran for a long time...
we just picked this bike up and it was in very bad shape...oh...it's a EX250 btw....should i just replace the valves all together?
Yup kawi valves are shaZam!. Those ninja and concourse and eliminator motors and of course the EX motors had valves that wear ... not exhaust, intakes... Kawasaki wanted to save a couple of pennies... knowing the intakes run cooler than exhaust... they put cheap shaZam! material in the intakes and better stuff in in the exhaust... I have opened 2 eli heads and same thing, I have seen peoples heads they were trying to sell and yes same thing... BTW if its not outright burnt, I will turn the jetting rich and ride it it the thing dies... Do make the thing run cooler... and see if it helps... I believe it might.
Cool.

so the motor is still good right?
OK if after you adjust the valves and turn up the jetting, the bike runs fine, then just make it as rich as it possibly can and ride it... it should last a while. Motor is probably un affected, valves going bad will mean, you have to pull the head, whihc means radiator etc gets removed and the head and cylinder have to be pulled and rehoned, new rings, and new valves, seats and probably springs and guides. Then re assemble it with new gaskets and it should last. BTW I'll do that muhc work and expense on a eliminator, but wont do it on a ninja... worthless kawi crap.
Cool.
Srinath.
is EX500 just as bad?
how bout our GS500?...
