Title: Carbs
Post by: vcrabro on September 30, 2004, 04:34:53 PM
After looking in my haynes manual it looks like the fuel tap on the tank should have the shut-off screw  facing to the right of the bike if you were sitting on it. Is this correct as my tap has the shut off screw facing to the left, so i am wondering if my main/reserve fuel lines are back to front.

Also has anyone got any idea what the Co reading should be for a GS 500S on tickover as i am having trouble getting my mixture right but i have a gas analyser.

Thanks BoB

Which diagram are you referring to from the Haynes manual?  The California-only one that I scanned a while back showed the hoses hooked to the right petcock tubes, but the petcock is rotated 180 degrees from how it is actually mounted.  (Just like in the fiche on the BikeBandit and Ron Ayers sites!)

For further info, see this diagram from the Clymer manual (http://www.bbburma.net/Scans/Clymer_FuelSystem.gif) and the Fuel Hose Routing page (http://www.bbburma.net/FuelHoseRouting.htm).
