the chain? I just put on a bandit 600 rear wheel with 160/60 tire on the GS. I also decided to change the chain to an EK 520 Sports chain. After assembling everything I have a liltle more/less .25" distance from the chain to the side of the tire and the same distance from the tire to the caliper torque link bar on the other side. I'm afraid once the chain and tire warms up it will expand and rub. Any opinions or experience?
1/4" no problem. You could get those tolerances as close as an 1/8th" (or 4mm). Just be sure that space is the minimum around the entire circumference of the tire.
Are you serious 1/8"! :? I think I'm very close. I can slightly tap the chain and it will hit the tire. So what happens when you ride hard and exert force on the tire. Wouldn't the tire need more the 1/8" tolerance for expansion?
nah, it will just make shinny spots around the edge of the tire, just make sure the side with the brake arm doesnt touch.
cool! 8) thanks.
1/4 " should be fine. There should be no noticeable lateral forces on the tire that far from the ground. Like said above, just make sure it's not too close to the brake brace or anything else.
