Title: New Exhausts
Post by: Trackman114 on October 05, 2004, 08:22:33 PM
Just thought I would let everyone know that I was looking at exhausts and found two what I think are brands. Akrapovic and Remus. The Akrapovic says for the 04, will it fit on an 01 with no mods.  Remus has exhausts for like 360 but I think you have to buy a conector for 99. Does anyone have these and how is the performance.

I can't seem to find the listing on Alrapovic's website for the GS500 exhaust.  They practically every other zuk but not our GS

Reason you don't hear about Remus much is they are quite costly.  I was under the impression that a slip-on was that 360 price you mentioned.  The full exhaust is somewhere north of $700 :o

I really like the look of Akra cans and mid pipes.  I bet the can would great on a GS if you make it work.  Though I bet it will be $$$ for either Akra or Remus

I found this last week looking for same.

I think will be going with Akrapovic unless Yoshimura makes theirs again in the next few months.

Wan't aware of Remus making one for GS.  Last issue of Sport Rider had a massive slip-on evaluation.  If i remember correctly, i think they implied that the Remus and Nikko were virtually identical, even missing the same hardware from the packages.  I guess that would make sense as Nikko makes slip on and full systems for GS as well.

Maybe with the "F" there will be more aftermarket.

Well I'll be... :)

Akrapovic needs to update their website

You can count on the Akra slip looking fun bags but you can also probably expect it to run about $450-$500 based on what their other slip-ons cost.  Ti slip-on for Bandit 6 is $499, Ti gsxr 1000 slip-on is $499

But hot damn, Akra is by far one of the best looking pipes in terms of style, fit, finish, and quality.

So......

Aluminum.........

Titanium.........

or Carbon........?

Is it true that the Carbon wrapped ones have a more throaty sound than an equivalent metal wrapped one?

I would like a full stanless steel system with carbon or titanium wrap muffler. :thumb:

Here is the Remus application chart

http://www.maxmoto.com/data_source04/REMUS%20application%20list%202004.pdf

They have several options for GS500 89 up, but the GS500 F is under development.

Does anyone know how different the 2004 exhaust is?  Is it just the outlet diameter is larger?  Would they be interchangeable?  Akrapovic makes one for 2004 and i think someone said it will work on 2001 no problems.
