Post by: Leveller on October 06, 2004, 12:57:44 PM
Hi guys , just a quick post to bring to your attention the thread i am running in regards to finishing of my GS streetfighter , i think some of you may have seen it prior to its total stripdown and finishing stage , its hardly an episode of "American Chopper" but you might find it interesting , hopefully it should be finished this week ..anyways see what you think , heres the link  :thumb:

hummm...

interesting look there for the aluminum case. i like the pollished look, but do you think a clear coat would be needed to keep the shine? *without using 1 hour of rubbing after each ride to keep the shine.

i really like the front end.

Nice pipes. Seems like all the Brits have 'em.  Are the 2 into 2 readily available in the other hemisphere or just a popular custom mod.  I havn't  seen them for sale over here.  If they are custom, how many bends per header?  I think I count four.  I was thinking I might throw together a pair for shoots and grins.  I have a tube bender that's set up for 1" right now, I would just have to get the dies for whatever diameter tube I chose to use.

Lev,
Top notch work, as always. With all that work you've done did you have any time left to ride it?

[the guys on the 600rr board give me grief about not washing my bike often...]

Seriously, your bike is spectacular. It looks superb. I love all the details. Some bikes are good 20 foot bikes, yours however, gets better and better it seems, the closer you get to it.

Pablo , i managed to get out on it once since the rebuild , only to blow the rockercover gasket , one of the cam bungs decided to blow out , not straight away mind you, oh no, no ..it waited till i was 3 miles away from home to do it ..i rebuilt it only to have it happen again , at home this time , i had wised up from the first  time ..it would seem that the gasket was defective ..probably a moral about buying pattern parts here ..a genuine replacement sorted it out , ive installed and fitted the last few bits and only really have the graphics to apply ..as soon as the rain stops ill finish up and post again

Thanks to everybody for all the encouragement  :thumb:

Great job on the bike overall. I think decals are very important when transforming/rebuilding a bike. They kinda polish the whole package. Well at least when done right. In this case deffinitly done right. I especially like the decal on the chin spoiler. Nice job!

Can't say as how I really like what you've done with it but I certainly admire the dedication and the craftsmanship.  :thumb:  And hey, if it's what you want, then it's a clear winner.

Could it be possible to see you sitting on the bike so I can get an idea of the riding position? It's hard for me to picture it in my head of what it would look like. Thanks

You'd be best to go over to gs500e.co.uk and ask him there, as I haven't seen him here in my entire time frequenting the board. And considering the last time he was active here was September, 2005, it's most likely that he won't get that message.

Never here?

I registered there a while ago and sent him a PM about his Bandit clusters and what he had to do to get them to work, but never got a response back. Oh well.

It'd be best to PM him on gs500e.co.uk, as he hasn't been active here since September. I read on the UK site that the bottle under the seat is only a gimmick NOS bottle for a laugh.
