Post by: CasiUSA on October 06, 2004, 01:38:32 PM
Just wondering what everyone's dream car is here.

Editage:

Mine's the ORIGNAL old school 67 Shelby 427 Cobra....drooool
Funny coming from a Ricer that my dream car is old-school American Muscle- but it's a classic and so damn sexy

Honorable Mention:
- Porsche 911 Twin Turbo- Current
- 66 Ferrari 275 GTB/4
- Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec- 02 NuR edition[/img]

for cars that are a possibility for me to get, not talking about porsches here or anything, i'd easily have to go with:

chrysler 300 C - so much old school class and style, and nice preformance if you go with the v8.  i'd really want to mod it for suicide doors too.

wrx sti - gotta love that car.

A big old black vintage lincoln continental with suicide doors.  You know, the ones so heavy they bend their own frames.  I'd do nothing but put my suit on, look mean and drive around all day... real slow.  :)

Being totally realistic, my choices are as follows:

1st choice: Dodge Viper - $81K (V10 engine = pure power)

Runner-up: Mazda RX-8 - $26K (rotary engine = fun 2 drive)

Honorable mention: Subaru WRX Sti - $32K (rally inspired)

Any Corvette...always wanted one and for some reason always passed when I had the chance. One that I really regret not getting was a '69 roadster with a 427, 3 deuces and a 4-speed. Passed on it and bought a '69 Chevelle SS396 375HP with a 4-speed (cheaper of course). Wow, wonder what that 'vette would be worth now? But the 'velle was a blast to drive too. I really miss the good ol' muscle-car days. GS500's rule, this forum rules.

I was thinkin that too.

As for my favorite, I dont think I even have a favorite these days.  Really, I would have to test drive a few and see what I like.  Maybe Evo, STi, RX8, 350Z, Corvette, MINI...  I like my dad's Miata, its kinda like a GS with 4 wheels, small, quick, and fun.  I wish he still had the NSX so i could drive that some ;)  Old school I would have to say 67 Corvette, I still remember when my dad had that car in Goodwood Green.

I'm kind of confused- if you look closely, it has the brembos on it and the WRC wheels. It is also the old body style (With those uuuuugly headlights)- which never made an STi appearance on this side of the pond. Maybe an overseas STi older version? :dunno:

Editage: Then again, you neve know with tuners... the way some of these guys do things, they could convince you that Honda made the insight in a Type R version

Muscle Cars-67 or 69 Vette 427 tri-power, Shelby Cobra 427, 69 Camaro 305 327 or 427, Shelby GT 500.

Modern Cars-Lamborghini Murcielago or Diablo, Mclaren F1, Ferrari 360 or 550, 04 Corvette.

I doubt I will ever end up with any of these, if I had the money I would spend it on a sprint car and go racing.

Camaros have always been my fav.  (My screen name is Camaro backwards for the non-observant)  I like other cars, but something about a four-seat balls-to-the-wall corvette-in-sheeps-clothing appeals to me.  Plus, it's sexy as hell.  I own a '99 Camaro coupe with t-tops (looks just like the one above without the SS trim -- stripes, hood, and rims.

For what I really want...'70-73 Datsun 240Z...but...with a twist, a '95 Chevy LT-1 350ci and a Tremec T56 6-speed tranny.  Add another twist, twin turbo, intercooled, water injection, running 15 PSI.  That's my goal after I get my truck all assembled again, and finally get it sold so I can start on the above car.

For a production car, I'd have to go with a 911, preferably a turbo version of any vintage except the '80s...The 959 is nice, but I wouldn't want to drive it anywhere for fear of breaking something REALLY REALLY expensive...Got a shadetree mechanic friend who worked on a late 60's 911/912 (Can't remember what it was) but it was a beotch to get at anything on the friggin' car...

Last option would be one of the homologation specials for any model, be it WRC type stuff, vintage Mopar NASCAR stockers for the road, or the original Z28 302ci Camaro.  All would just reek of high society engineering...

Good topic, btw...Much better than the cuffs/whips/black leather type stuff, in my humble opinion...

I can think of a lot of cars that I would like someone I know to own and maintain so that I could drive it.

But man - owning something like that Ferrari GTO?  It would take more time and money than I have.

My current cage is fun, light, reliable as all heck, handles like it's on rails, is infinitely customizeable, gets good mileage, does sun, rain, and snow, is cheap to maintain, and puts a smile on my face.

When I have a few more track schools under my belt, I'll put on a Flyin' Miata stroker kit and turbo, at which point it will be faster than stink, in addition to the above.

Quote69 Camaro 305
didnt have it then

it was a 302 ID'd by a DZ suffix in the block casting numbers.
it was weird the way chevy made it, it was like a 283 crank, into a smallblock 400 and small chamber heads with 2.02 valves, the engine ran a 4150 holly i belive and was bolted to either a m21 or m22 close ratio 4speed (cant remember which one thogh) it also had a redline of 9000rpm
it was only used 3 years and was built for runnin trans-am races,   part of the rules was a factory production car wiht a 5.0L engine or less.  it also kicked ass from 67-69 .

my favorite is the 69 with the 302/4spd, but with the SS/RS hideway light package.

this is a 68 with a bigblock but same trim package i want

It's funny - for the most part I can't tell a _____ from a _____.  I'm sadly behind the times when it comes to car makes and models.  I guess I just (dare I say it?) don't care much.  That applies almost as well to motorcycles too, but subscribing to a couple of MC mags has educated me a little bit.  Even so, I almost always skip over article that review obviously race-oriented or BIG bikes.

The last time I paid attention to a particular car was probably in Junior High ... when I tried to decide between getting a Pinto or a Gremlin or a Pacer when I grew up.  :?

What can I say?  :dunno:

srinath...always the analyzer!! IMO the 512 Testarossa is a bit cliche'd. Beautiful car, no doubt, but a little too Hollywood for my taste. For a newer than 60's Ferrari I'd have to go with the 1985 288GTO...understated (for a Ferrari!) but badass.

The TR might be a bit cliche yes, but I think its understated... I do like the GTO ( :thumb:  on the old GTO ) but somehow the TR flows and is easier on the eyes and I think its under stated compared to the GTO... The old GTO is better than the new GTO In my eyes, but still in my eyes too many sharp corners and chunky looking pieces bolted on... seemingly at random ...
Delorean... yea the white lines on the road disappear ... Old coke head joke ... but that was a lovely car even if its a bit under powered for this company...
Cool.

'67 Mustang GT fastback with the 390, or a '69 Mustang Boss 302(although the '64 1/2 with the K-code 289 is also tempting). The little Lotus Elise was nice, too.

watch the video to see this street legal car beat a honda cbr600 around a track.

I saw this episode of Top Gear (amazing show, BTW).  That car is amazing!!!  He smoked that CBR after the first 50 yards and never looked back.

Yeah, but the guy riding the CBR wasn't all that fantastic. I didn't see a single knee drag. He seemed kinda hesitant and slow in the corners. Maybe if they had a real bike tester...

the oval rear wondow rocks, but real class is a split rear window.

my list would have to be:
1)  Nissan Skyline R-34 Z-Tune (why because it's an inline 6 making 500 hp stock and only 20 are made)    :thumb:

2) The Bugatti Veyron (Nice choice Alpha)

3) The Koenisigg (Great looking car and unique and different) not sure on the spelling though

4) The Ariel Atom (That thing freaking Rocks)

5) Mercedes Benz SL65 (Classy yet fast as hell - for luxury anyway)

That's my top five

just an SS, why not RS SS.

My first car was a 69 SS 396 nova.

The RS package on a '69 Camaro doesn't look that great in my opinion. I need those bare open headlights looking out at ya. Yeah. Definitely a '69 Camaro SS for me.

I'll just add that non-commercial dual wheel Ford F-350's are #1 on my list of "asshats to give a wide berth to when riding the motorcycle".  As much as I dislike stereotyping, every one of them that I've seen on the highway was being driven like they were trying to qualify at Daytona.  I can only assume that anything bigger would be operated proporitonately more recklessly.

New
SRT-10 Dodge RAM
SRT-4 with stage 3 kit installed
05 Mustang GT supercharged
New R/T Charger (big Hemi engine) with the Daytona apperance package

OLD
1967 Mustang Coupe 390 4 speed
1963 Ford Fairlane 260 v-8 just for cruising
Lamborghini Countach( white)
Plymouth Prowler (burnt orange)
Mid 70's 911
Conquest TSI (fully built, Red)

But if I had the money I would take my current car and swap a 2.4 turbo out of a SRT4 have it bored and stroke to 2.7 liters, head & intake work done, Crane cams, PCM, with all the stage 3 upgrades from Dodge, LSD in transmission, frame tighened up, roll cage, NX intercooler sprayer, and a set of drag radials for the front with a set of steel wheels designed like the old Dodge ralleye wheels from the late 60's or early 70's.   Pure sleeper.
