I know this has been discussed here before, but I'd really appreciate some recommendations for putting a small fairing on my 2000 gs. I find that at 75mph on the freeway I feel like I'm gettiing beat up by the wind, which causes me to stiffen up my grip on the bars.
Also, I bought the bike new and never bothered to have the 600 mile valve adjustment done (slap!). I had it in storage for a couple years, so it now only has about 2400 miles on it, but I hear a knocking in the motor occasionally at idle. Any thoughts on that?
Thanks. Great site.

Most any small windshield/fairing will help a lot with the wind blast. I have a rifle - pretty expensive but good quality. Others have tried everything from the F15 to Plexistar. Do a search on windshield or fairing and you will find lots of stuff - might also want to check out the "wall of fame" and then contact people who have something like what you want.
Do the valve adjustment - very important. Also, progressive springs in front make a world of difference in how the bike handles. Install one size larger pilot and main jets to improve cold starts and slightly increase power at minimal cost.
Yeah, what he said :thumb:
Yes, as above. There are loads of threads and oppinions about screens. I went for a big one (see left) and it is a different world without the demon trying to pull your head off once you get over 60ish. Lots of the guys are happy with smaller screens, probably something to do with "cool" but I prefer "dry"
Thanks for the replies. Its given me some food for thought. Now I'm sure I really need to get on that valve adjustment. Dealer wants 300 bones, so I think I'll try and muddle through it myself!
what screen is that Cal??...i need one for winter
I have the National Cycle F 16 windscreen. It is fairly small and sporty looking, but I certainly still get buffeted by the wind. At least it gives me something to duck behind.
