man, it's like my worst nightmare in slow-mo. glad he was wearing gear, and DAMN that critter got hella *#@%-ed up!

I almost center-punched a deer at ~50 mph a few weeks after I had gotten my bike. Fortunately for me the deer got outta the way. like 0% skill, total luck. I was just comforable enough to let my guard down and zone out for a second about what a nice day it was. I've learned to modulate that back brake pedal with a bit more finesse since then, thankfully

Seen it before.  It's amazing how fast that deer runs out :o

My friend at work saw a vehicle in the front of him hit a fox. He stopped and got it. Still nice and warm. I saw him later skinning it and went over to talk to him and "check it out".  It was a nice fox and he told me afterward that he'd gotten $35 for the hide. I used to trap some back in the late 1980's. I miss it. A lot.

I have a friend who saw a Suburban clip a deer.  It was laying in the ditch when my friend stopped to look at it.  It's neck was broken but it was still breathing slightly...he stuck it's nose and mouth into the ditch water to put it outta it's misery.  He then went and got his pickup...I saw it hanging in his backyard being quartered...it was hamburgers at our block party a few weeks later.

Agreed--nearly fell out of my chair laughing at the stories about the fox and the deer.

Was driving up near Loon River Tanker Station last week (5 hours north of Edmonton and well into the muskeg) got there at 2.25 am and counted well over 50 deer. Those were the eyes we saw. Might have been another hundred we didn't see, or they didn't bother looking up.
Could have had the world's largest Block Party with all those whitetailed fellas  :P
PS You really worry about the moose 'cos they are dark brown and their eyes don't reflect. Add to that their bellies are truck windshield height and  you might have one with his face in your lap at 70 mph.
Now that'd get your full attention.  :o
