Title: Front Sprocket help ASAP
Post by: pprider on October 09, 2004, 09:08:32 AM
i got my bike apart took off the old one and whent to put the new one on and it barely wants to go on i dont want to force it on... i looked at the sprocket and can see that the old one has inner splines like a V where as the new JT sprocket inner splines look more like a platau.. make sense? should i just force it on anyways?

Are you sure you got the one for your year model?.  The earlier ones were different.  I've forgotten which models it was but there is a difference and you won't be able to force it.  Shouldn't be forcing it anyway.

apparantly that listing is incorrect because the lady i talked to from dennis kirk says JT doesnt make a 15 tooth sprocket for the gs and that the one i have is meant for kawasaki or yamaha !!!  :(

That's right.  The 15T I got for my '01 was listed as for a Kawasaki, but it fit fine.  Just double check that you need the one with or without the flange on the back.  BTW the flange goes towards the gearbox side.

I missed all of the excitement.  :x

Did you figure out what was wrong?  Was it just an alignment problem?
