I just remembered that I said I would be around on Saturday morning.  I forgot to take it back when they said we didn't have to work Saturday after all.  (Sorry about that.   )

Are you still having problems?  If so, tell us everything you have tried.

well i have it "on" - "semi on" im really not sure.. theback end of the clip is flush with the link but the front end isnt "closed" its not completly around the pin, there is a good 4-5 mm between the clip and the pin. as if it cant be seated... i compressed the link alot, i cant imagine it will compress any further, the link when the chain isnt tight is sluggish almost like its frozen so im scared i overcompressed it.

on top of that now i did another post explaining that the gears are messed up but some1 replied and said i just need to move the counterbalance sprocket around and it will be fine.. but how do i do this?

thanks kerry

here is what you will need....

clean the chain with an old tooth brush at the connection point of the master link. be sure there is NO grit , oil, or dirt in the area. any ammount will give you the problem you are having now...

maybe i should take some photos to better show this, but use with needle nose plyers are what work for me...

grabbing the digi camera and taking some photos now.

well isnt that something...

it appears my 96 has a pressed chain, and no master link. can anyone tell me if the bike was delivered this way from the factory? it's a DID chain.

Yep, that's how it was delivered.
