Title: Bar-ends?
Post by: sprint_9 on October 10, 2004, 09:44:44 AM
I was wondering, since my stock barends are ugly and arent fully functional anymore.  What are some options for barends, will other barends from other bikes fit?  Ive got clip-ons I was also wonding if I could just fill them with weight, that would be cheap, but I dont know if it would be such a hot idea?  Any info welcome, Thanks.

Partsnmore has a set listed as "Suzuki GXSR" bar ends that look pretty good and fit on the GS.  I bought a pair when I was buying carb rebuild kits.  I don't think they do a whole lot for vibration dampening (they're really lightweight) but they look cool and only cost around 8-9 bucks (though you have to buy at least $30 through partnmore).  I believe anything with a 6mm bolt should work, and the handle bar diameter is 7/8" (why it's not listed metric I don't know).  the only problem I encountered was the barend on the right would make contatct with my throttle slide and prevent free movement, so I just bought a really thick, small diameter washer and placed that between the bar and the barend.  Works great.

i've used aftermarket and stock and put the stock ones back on.  There's a reason why barends are so cheap - they don't reduce vibration at all compared to the heavy stock lead ones, at least the ones i've tried.

i like bar ends.....but after riding without them and putting some back on....i can feel more vibes through the foot pegs than i could with the ends off.
