Title: Fuel problem
Post by: OrlandoGS on October 17, 2004, 07:11:37 AM
I've been reading the board for awhile and finally got the nerve to post. I bought my 04 yellow gs back in july and while i absolutely love it ( i've ridden 3200 miles since new) it has given me a number of problems. The most recent is with the fuel. I usually dont run till i need the reserve but the other day on a busy street it ran out of gas on me. I switched to the reserve and nothing. I had to dodge traffic while pushing it to the side of the road and then to the gas station that was like two blocks away. When i got there it held 5.38 gallons. Isn't the entire tank with reserve 5.3 gallons? So I guess it used my reserve without me switching to it. So what gives? :dunno:

Could it be that you are reading the petcock backwards?

Take a good look at it, check it out with your manual, I suspect you may have been running on PRI rather than "ON"

There have been other posts about this type of thing, Kerry has some pix as it is not unknown for the petcock to be incorrectly fitted. If you suspect this it is probably best to invoke warranty rather than do it just in case the problem is elswhere and the dealers says you have invalidated the warranty by "messing"

Welcome to the board.
