My buddy and I are trying to do the Advanced MSF course through Spring Branch ISD. They will hold a November class if 6 people sign-up. We have put our name on the list. So far the list has four people on it.
If you are interested call 713-365-5660. We signed up for the waiting list, but did not pay for the class yet. The class would meet at Westview and Campbell north of I-10. The date is at the mercy of Springbranch ISD but it will be on a Saturday or Sunday. The class costs $75 and lasts one day.
Just a heads-up, in some states these MSF courses (definitely the basic course, I'm not so sure about the advanced) count as Defensive Driving courses, earning you a 10% insurance discount on all vehicles for which you're the primary driver. Typically these discounts persist for three years.
Taking this course might be a sound financial investment. :)
Here in Texas the Advanced MSF course can be used for ticket dismissal for minor traffic violations like speeding, etc. It can also help the insurance as well.
We're going to try and get the class for the first weekend in November.
FYI
The advanced course in the Austin area will allow you to bring a passenger, I know they do this in some other areas too.
My wife has refused to ride but is considering doing the course with me soon.
