So, I need to revise my previous post. After taking the bike out long enough for it to fully warm up I'm noticing some different behavior. If I adjust the idle to where it should be, my revs don't hang. But half the time when I come to a stop the bike will cut out and die, then other times it will idle just fine. Also, on warm up the bike is really finicky. There's a lot of hesitation and it won't idle at all without constantly revving the engine. Once it warms up these kinks iron out, but it still dies half the time when idling. Any ideas? I was thinking I'm running lean so I'd bring my needles up a bit and turn the idle mixture screws out. Any other ideas on what could be causing this? Thanks.
Check if the bike acts different when you are at left throttle lock or right. Also check for air leak into the manifolds. Then do the whole 40/125 washer 3 turns... also clean air filter.
Cool.

Well, I've exhausted most of my options. I raised the needles up a bit and that seems to help. My idle screws are still only at 2-1/4 so I'll let those out to 3, maybe 3-1/2. It will actually idle when warmed up (though I had to set it around 1600 instead of 1200). Power at the low end still feels almost nonexistent, I really have to ring it out to take off from a stop or it sounds like it's having an awfully hard time. I suppose the pilots will be next on my list since that has the most to do with my low end. Thank you all for your help. Seriously, I feel like I've posted forty million times with my bike problems. Thanks for putting up with it and offering your advice and knowledge.
Proves my point. Buy a jet kit that works. Spend the $89, even if you decide to do the work yourself. I had Suzuki put it in also. Best investment I ever made. I get more satisfaction out of riding than doing it myself.
The jet kit method is worse than DIY. If you dont want to DIY... send it to me and $40 I'll get it sorted out... sheesh... Like I have said before... If I never see another screwed up jet kit install again it wouyld be too soon.
However on a side note... seamax, caddmonkey, and itseemedlikeagoodidea... would any of you post how the bike is from the carburetion point of view after I sent back the carbs to you guys. I need to confirm what I am doing to "fix" the kit is actually working. No kit DIY is best, far fewer guesses, and nothing complicated like drilling and tapping your slides.
Cool.

Why do you say the jet kit it worse? Why re-invent the wheel when someone has already invented it. A shop that knows what it is doing will put in something that it knows will work. People seem to spend ridiculous amounts of time and effort on their carbs because they refuse to spend the extra $ for a jet kit. If you want to save on the labor fine, don't skimp on the parts.
Par number for my jet kit was DJ-3150. I works for the 2002 will probably
work for the F also but I would ask.
