Title: Jet sizes for GS500F
Post by: bluedevil on October 21, 2004, 08:48:14 PM
I'm about to take in my bike for its first oil change and was wondering if anyone can tell me what the stock size is for main jets and pilots.

Has anyone already re-jetted a GS500F, if so, what sizes did you use and do you happen to have the parts #'s?

I've already got a exhaust set-up ready to go, but the bike runs to lean as it is.(warm up time is outrageous!)  So while the dealership is doing the oil change I'm going to order the jets, just need to know what sizes.

Any help is appreciated.

The F models (and indeed all 2001+ models) ARE different where jetting is concerned.  They sport a different carb which uses 3 jets: a pilot, a mid-main and a main.

Manjul (The_good_guy) just rejetted his ... 2002? ... last Saturday.  I helped him do it, but I can't remember all of the jet size information.  He bought the new jets from Sudco.  Maybe he'll come along and lay out the details for you.

Oops - Manjul already created a FAQ topic about this: What does one need to Rejet a 2001+ GS500. (http://www.gstwins.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12928)

You may still want to ask some questions (here, not there) about the ideal jets to use with your particular air filter and exhaust pipe.

Buy a jet kit through Suzuki.  I think it's about $89 dollars.  Guaranteed to work.  I had them put it in my 2002.  Got it right on the first try.

Thanks for the info.  I'll just wait for the part numbers, my fiance rejetted his SV DIY way and cost him a total of $9.00 in two hours time.  Don't think it would be worth it to pay suzuki $90 + installation.
