My helmet isn't really restricting tight on my head... I mean it doesnt move around; but it's not uncomfortable (like I've heard people say a good helmet should fit before it's broken on...)
does this sound okay? I think if it were a size smaller it would be uncomfortable
another question is that there seems to be velcro on front of my mouth.... but no pad there... Am I missing a pad or is this for a microphone or something?
If you can grab the chin bar and pull the helmet around your head...it's too loose. If you can grab the back of the helmet and roll it off your head, it's too loose. But, you shouldn't get a headache.
The velcro may be for an accessory attachment like a chin pad. It's a little pad that help keep out the wind and wind noise.

cool... I can't roll it off.. I was *just* under the size large... so I went ahead and ordered a large. Seems to fit okay then.,
I've got the velcro thing at my chin too, with nothing to attach there. I've meant to look at HJC's site sometime to see if they have an accessory or something to fit there.
Sounds like you got the right size. Too small and your head won't even touch the inside top. Too big and you can literally spin the helmet around (reminiscent of the Exorcist) your head.
When I bought my CL-14 the sales guy said it will gradually work itself in. Almost 9000 miles and it still feels the same as ever! So if it's comfortable now, good.
I think you're right about the microphone/velcro thing. Just noticed the velcro a few days ago. :dunno:
I got an HJC helmet with velcro strip along the bottom of the chin.
It's for attaching a breath guard that covers you mouth and nose.
This directs your breath down out the bottom of the helmet to stop
your visor fogging up.
Damn useful in cold damp weather, pitty I lost mine over summer. :x
anyone know where i can find one of those mouthguards? i used to have one and it kicks ass in the colder months. can't seem to find one anywhere though?
I checked out the HJC site and it said to see your local dealer. Presumably there would be something at an online store as well, but I haven't had time to look yet.
I have been using a breath guard called Foggys in my CL-14 for about 6 months now. It works great, and because it's neoprene, I think it would be more comfortable than the HJC model. Besides, every dealer near me was out of stock and would not be getting more of the HJC model. I got mine @ helmetharbor.com for about $20.
