Don't buy this fairing!

Don't remember the brand name, but it uses some funky headlight bulbs that I couldn't find replacements for, and the first time I removed the lens, the tabs snapped. $100 piece of garbage.
On the bright side, I used the flush mount signals that came on it on the rear of the bike, and installed a pair of 3" HID lights. The bike looks like Johnny5 from the old Short Circuit movie now!!

Thanks buddy!
Welcome....
Sucks that you found out the hard way about the non-available bulbs...Hate companies that try to re-invent something that is already pretty well standardized...Ya know?
HIDS! I guess your lights shine pretty bright now... :)
What HIDs did you get? How much $$$ ? Any links?
D.
I'll post pics soon. They were on sale for 30 bucks at Pep Boys. I had to do a little rewiring, but they work great. I rewired the toggle switch on the bar to give one bulb constant power and the second only come on when the high beams are switched.

30 bucks HIDs!? :o

You probably me H4s. HID means high intensity discharge and is not an actual bulb, it's a constant electrical arc. There is no possible chance that someone would sell a HID kit for $30. Even if they wer scratch and dent or had been run over by a Mack truck and you somehow got them to spring back to life, they would still cost hundreds of dollars.
If they were advertising them as HID then they are deceiptful in doing so.
I thought the box said HID. They're bright as hell. I don't really care one way or another. Just needed light!
they prob say HID(look)
Bastards!! I was less concerned with WHAT they were than I was with HOW MUCH they cost and HOW WELL they work! So far so good, we'll see! The wiring is straight now, so maybe I'll upgrade to some real HIDs when these cheapies burn out!
This fairing isn't by any chance that $52 thing from Demon Tweeks, is it? I just ordered on this morning - not sure I understand what you were getting at w/ the headlights - you can't find any proper replacement bulbs? Doh!
I got mine from BitsABikes - a company in the UK. The bulbs very well may be a standard thing in the UK, but nobody here in 'ol Virginia had a clue where to find them.
My headlight, same one as this, just came in today from the UK. Hopefully mine won't be the piece of sh*t that yours was for you. Quick question for you Octane, before I tear my lights apart. Keeping in mind I'm still new to taking apart things on my bike - was this easy to install? I have a bad feeling my current light wires are ghetto-rigged so I wanted to hear about your experience before - or anyone else who has this cheapy Bike-It replacement. PM me if you like. Thanks!
Blair
If your light wiring isn't ghetto rigged now it will be by the time you finish putting this fairing on. The lights in the fairing don't have a traditional 3 prong plug end. Trim the wire and splice on blade ends that you can insert into the 3 prong headlight receptacle. The turn signals are straightforward. The wire colors don't match, but it doesn't matter, just plug 'em up and make sure they work before you mount everything in case there's a crossed wire.
wanna sell it octane, since you dont like it and all :)
Already gutted it. Used the flush mounts for rear signals, and the POS reflector case tabs cracked off the first time I removed it from the shell. Think I'm gonna use the actual fairing body/shield on another project I'm working on.
becareful with those hid look alikes... make sure they pull 55w/85w? i think thats oem standard right? anyway... those look alikes are so bright because they pull like 85w/100+w... so they intend to burn out your wire harness for the bulb... just warning you
Thanks for the heads up. I'll check it.
