Title: 2004 GS500F w/ DIY Slipon (PICS and SOUND CLIPS!)
Post by: dolepineapple on November 14, 2004, 05:26:35 PM
Hey Everyone. . .

Just picked up my bike from the shop and WOW,
i'm totally blown away by the performance
with the new can!

I don't know if it's just me,
but it feels like i have way more midrange punch than before
(between 3000 and 5000 rpm)

The verdict on the sound of the new can:
STUNNING!
Super low backbone bass
Just what I wanted
Definitely louder than the stock exhaust can

if you'll excuse me,
i have to make it to Sunday evening mass and confess my sins
(exceeding the speed limit by 60km/h is pretty excessive)

SRINATH RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THANKS A MILLION DUDE!

Hi man,
The can looks a bit lowish ...but then again in that pic with the civic it looks highish ... So better tell me ... its higher than stock or so right ... 04 you have massive options ... cos it was weld on ... so point it where ever and if needed slice off the headers and connect it up ...
Cool.
Srinath.

Thanks for the tip Srinath

By the way, it's not a civic

can anyone else take a shot at what the car in the back is?

Duuuude you said civic ... I know nothing about cars man ...
Anyway is the pipe higher than stock where its snout is... and did you have any trouble fitting it ... you'll help some guys trying to fit it on 04's a lot.
Cool.
Srinath.

a BMW of some sort, thats what the rear reminds me of, the front just looks so much like a civic.

Nice site i ordered that eliminator kit just now, also where did u get the flush mount turn signals?  You don't have a link for those.  I didn't know that the 04's came in black when i bought mine the dealer had blue and yellow  :dunno:    Also what was involved in installed the eliminator kit?  Anything need to be modifyed?  Sweet bike though im having my guy install a slip on, jet kit and k&n filter pod friday on my 04.  Can't wait

Wow. . .i go to church to attend mass
and when i get back an hour later
7 REPLIES!

WOHOOOOOOO!

Srinath:  we must be talking about different pics. . .i'm talking about the forth pic from the top (it's a 1999 corolla). . .the first pic from the top is indeed, a civic. . .
As for the snout of the slip on, it's hard to tell if it was higher because my point of comparison was the bottom the fender, which was cut off. . .in my opinion, the way that the shop slipped on the exhaust, it looks about the same, if not a tiny tiny tiny bit lower than stock. . .

90gs500:  I think we're not talking about the same car. . .the pic forth from the top is a 1999 corolla. . .2nd from the bottom, a civic

dufoes:  it's IS300. . .and you're wrong anyways. . .hahahahhaha. . . the pic forth from the top is a 1999 corolla. . .2nd from the bottom, a civic. . .good fun!

weaselnoze:  97 civic (2nd pic from the top). . .and WOW!  I'm real impressed that you could tell it's a knock off. . .seriously, 97% of people can't tell it's a volk racing knock off. . .btw, the wheels are parada. . .by some company i can't remember right now

MR_PINK:  i got the flush mounts at a local cycle shop here in Scarborough, Ontario. . .but you can pretty much walk into any shop and i'm sure there'll be a wide selection.  .  .as for installation, it was pretty easy considering me and my cousin didn't use any instructions and just winged it. . .even though it took us a bit more than an hour. . .it was only because it was cold/raining and we were hungover from the night before. . .other than that, most flush mounts are fairly easy to install with very very minimal customizing (i.e. filling the gap between the hole from the stock signals and the new ones)

Hope that answers everyone's questions. . .

cheers,
joel

so the eliminator kit just basically bolted on with no drilling?

MR_PINK:  i didn't put the kit on. . . i got the shop that was installing my slip on exhaust and doing my oil change to install it for free.  .  .

the mechanist DID show me what he had to do though. . .he did have to take off the whole rear piece (the one under the seat) and then put on the fender eliminator kit. . .from that point, he dremelled the stock fender off the rear piece and then assembled it back on. . .

i told u guys in my post, to make the eliminator to work u gotta cut the fender down to the right size, drill two holes under the seat area on the rear fender to mount the eliminator. wire up the lites and put ur licnese plate back on and ur done.

for the flush mounts u gotta use the stock black plastic plates to fill in the back cuz if u dont ull see right thru the hole and get them painted the same color as the bike so when u install them they look right. Plus if u want them sturdy drill thru the flush mounts and put a bracet that screws in from the back side.

the clear tails from clear alternatives still needs to be cut down to size to fit right cuz its actually the honda lites.

if you got any other questions just ask.

btw the bike looks really good, and its nice to see another F looking jus as nice as mine  ;)  LOL

Cant wait to paint mine some other color than blue...

nice i can reply, i am such a noobie.
many a time i have spent im front of my comp prepairing a witty and (i think ) hilarious story/comment only to have it not post.

i have been reading the board for more than 10 months...
No need for a clymer manual when u got the forum.
still gonna buy one from gstwin.
just cause i love the forum.

ive been riding my GS500F since june... 8000 km so far, going for 10k before the snow stays on the ground.

I must Apologize.... for what? you may ask..... This.....
(insert matrix pic here)

love the GS but i had 2 problems; 1) the chain would not stay tight after i took the bike in for it's 6k tune-up, the adjuster plates were all bent and the end caps for the swing arm were in need of constant hamering.
warrenty fixed that... stupid cycleworld east. u pay 300$ for oil change and valve adjustment and u get back a bike that thay left out in the rain for a week and is Fu@## up.
2) some Ominous engine noise at 5k
(the forum dispelled any concern i had due to the regularity of the same problem)

I pre Apologized for the rant. The bottem line is i love the gs and am proud to say that the GSF (if you say it fast enuff it sounds like GSX) is the first of many motorcycles i play to own over the course of my life.

anyways back to the topic...  im planing to do some mods this winter and the price of the dye slipon, the ease of install not to mention the looks are making me want one.....
can you ship to Canada? and what is the cost?

thanks for your time. and again i must Apologize for posting non Pertinent
Info and comments.

Frost:  ABSOLUTE WORST for customer service.  I have a friend who works in the shop at the back. . .he's a mechanist. . .very very cool guy, but everyone else there (besides the asian dude who sold me the bike at a wicked price) is pretty ass. . .by the way, i love going to commerce gate. . .people over there seem to look at you like they've never seen a biker before. . .but it's funny, i rolled in there a month ago and remember seeing an all asian sport bike crew come in (about 8 of them with some chicks) and they looked awesome!

CAN_Porn*Star:  bought my exhaust from the almighty Srinath and it cost me a total of $200 CDN flat with shipping (and i live in scarborough, ontario)

EazyAsOne23:  thanks for the comments.  i know what you mean. . .it feels good to be one of the first to mod an F and i think you're the only other one out there . . .besides MR_PINK who gave me a great tip on buying a jet kit made just for the F from dynojet.com. . .besides that, i didn't have to drill down the light clearalternatives sent me. . .it bolted right in . . .as for the fender eliminator, my mechanist told me that he did have to do some drilling . . .i just don't know where, which is a shame. . .

etam:  the weather is AWESOME!  i just went out for a ride without having to layer any clothing at all. . .i'm not planning to store this bike until i start seeing some flakes hit the ground!
