Title: 4 or 8 valves?
Post by: rww22 on November 15, 2004, 03:10:33 PM
Hi!  I have read numerous articles in magazines and reviews online that say the 04 500F has an 8-valve engine - no joking.  My guess is it's still 4-valve since I don't see this advertized on Suzuki's site (it would be major news, wouldn't it?).  Still, I am very curious and wonder if anyone knows the real facts.  I cannot tell by simply looking at my bike and don't want to pull off the cover just to find out.  Thanks and cheers!

If it was a 4 valve/cylinder motor, the spark plug would be directly above the piston.

This seems to be a fairly common misconception.  I've read a few mag articles that claim the GS500 is and has always been 4 valves per cylinder.  I guess those of you who've done your own tappets have the straight story.  :thumb:

Leave it to the media...
I saw one mag that had it listed as a 5 speed tranny... probably a misprint.
