Hi everyone,
Been making some pewter keychains for myself. Just wondering if anyone out there would be interested in a GS500 one?
I've included a pic of mine so you can see the quality of it. The GS one would be like the pic below.
Setup time is fairly lengthy so i'm just puttin it out there to see if there are enough people interested in one. If so I will make some up. I figure the cost would be $10 Cdn...plus shipping and would include circle split ring for the keys...i also have the beaded chain too...if its gonna be on the bike i would suggest the split ring one...the beaded can slip apart at the connector unless you crimp it tight.
Send me some feedback and let me know. :thumb:

shure, can you put gstwin.com on the back?
Only one side can be done using the method i make them with.
Whoooohoooo as soon as I get a damn job I'll buy 1 ... Bloody hell we are begining to make those Harley dodo's look un customised ...
Yea ... want to have a Unique GS500 - Leave it all stock... yea...
Cool.
Srinath.
I'd buy one.
I will also donate to a fund to buy one for Srinath, it might inspire him to get back on his feet.
Oh well if you do ... I send you some cheesy stickers ... these are not the Gstwin.com sickers ...I cut some custom reflector ones when I was in India .... and haven't gotten around to putting up pics ... but they glow in the dark... like glow a lot ... like they are radioactive ... so much so... we nick named them "radium" in India....
Cool.
Srinath.
you hot casting them?
yup...they are hot cast gravity technique. The mold making is the hardest part...sometimes i might have to make a few attempts at it before i get one that turns out well.
Just wanted to mention too...obviously its metal so it would probably mark up your handlebar mounting area a bit jangling around. Not really a concern for me...mines already marked up from the other keys i have on my current plastic keychain. If thats a concern for people i would suggest putting a piece of clear vinyl tape over that area...will keep it from gettin marked up.
Anyways, if i get around a dozen or so people interested i'll make some up.
how do you make your molds? router? hand carve? what matirial do you use?
Nice. I'd go in for one.
the mold technique is a multi step process....i have a vinyl plotter which i rigged to use my dremel in...so consider it a limited pseudo router. Hand clean up is necessary after that...thats your master object....then i make a mold off of that. The mold itself then needs some modifications done to it to get a proper casting from it. Once cast, there is some clean up and filing needed, put in a oxidizing solution to blacken the metal, buffed, then the hole drilled. Trust me...lots of trial of error figuring this stuff out :).
Eh what the hell, ill take one.
okay cool...looks like there's enough interest in it. I'll be starting on it tonite. Will probably take a week to get a workable mold done and ready for casting. Then i'll get a hold of you by private message and we can work out the details. :thumb:
pics dont' work
I'd be interested, so long as the price is right
Count me in too, please.
That's mighty cool.
Sweet :) I want one too. How much would 10 cdn be in american dollars? Like what $3  j/k
I will take one also.
I want a belt buckle like 6" x 3".
Just kidding...
belt buckle hey.....hmmm.....how bout a title belt instead :P
I"ll take one.
Jake
Looks good to me. I'll buy one too.
Hi everyone,
Here is the finished version of the keychain....check it out. :thumb: Anyone else that wants one, just let me know.
Next up is a rear hugger...I am making myself one and will let you all know how it turns out. Anyone wanting one, keep an eye out. Molding process will probably take me a couple of weeks.
airbrush: Count me in for the pewter as well! just wondering if the rear hugger you're talking about making is going to fit the 2004 F as well?
yup its gonna be for the F....thats what i have :thumb:
so your making a pewter rear hugger?
haha...no no.....it will be fibreglass, but a pewter one would be interesting though
So...how much is $10 CDN in real money these days???
I'll take one...PM me with your preferred payment/address scheme.
Looks good!
Anyone know the swap capabilities for an '04 hugger on an older model?
All the rear suspension pieces are identical. What fits on an '01+ will fit an '04+ F model, along with the 89-00 E's.
Thanks for the info on what years it would fit....actually had asked that in my hugger post. :thumb:
The key chain showed up ... and sweet ... dammit airbrush I broke a letter opened trying to open your packing ... but hey I never use a letter opener anyway ... The key chain looks nice ... On an 89 whoo hooo its going to be sweet ... A round patch of velcro on it and the triple ... so it wont slide all over and scratch up the powdercoating ... Whooo hooo and what were you saying about the rings ... I should get a extra link or something???
Cool.
Hey,
Glad you like the keychain. The velcro is a good idea....think I might do that to mine too.
I was talking about the beaded chains and not the rings, the beaded chains can come apart at the connector unless you crimp them tight but you have the split rings, so no worry.
So have you got the flange and fork brace ready for me?? I'm gonna etch my logo design on the top of the brace when i get it. I'll post a pic of it when i'm done. :thumb:
OK Shhhh.... just picked it up...
No holes... means you got to have the 7475 1/2 inch ... not 6061 5/8th ... the guy drilled all the 5/8th ones, and none of the 1/2's ... I also have 6061 1/2 inch undrilled ... that he put in cos he broke some or other ... so somehow I am supposed to be short and now I am not... whatever ... I'll check and post in a few hours ...
Cool.
Srinath.
Alright the 1/2 inch undrilled is fine
Happy New Year everyone...cant wait for the springtime to roll around.
Still have some keychains left, anyone that wants one, let me know.
:thumb:
Got my keychain recently, it doesn't really bounce around like I thought it would.
Sporting my new key chain around work. Some Harley guy asked me if I had seen any like it for HOGS. I told him they only make 'em for real motorcycles just to piss him off.
haha....nice one...it doubles as a personal defence weapon in case the harley guys take a swing at you. :thumb:
My neighbor just about had his eyes pop when I showed him the thing ... BTW can you do some aluminum type thing ... and I am thinking belt buckle ... not key chain ...
Cool.
Srinath.
nope...cant do aluminum and no plans for doing a belt buckle...dont think there will be enough of a demand for that.
i'd take a buckle with a big S on it :)
a big S hey....so what is S supposed to stand for...can we use our imagination here...haha ;)
oh come on! haha its the suzuki s of course! shame on u
Quote from: airbrushnope...cant do aluminum and no plans for doing a belt buckle...dont think there will be enough of a demand for that.
Oh well ... OK ... he had some funky ass dude make him a belt buckle from aluminum ... one off and very much a harley knock off ... but better cos I believe the harley item is pewter. BTW he paid $30 ... not bad ... considering the POS harley one is like 45 or somehting.
Cool.
Srinath.
well i would be infringing on copyright if I use the suzuki "s" logo. I will think about it....lets have a show of hands how many are interested first.
I will take one.
many posts, many ideas, suggestions (which are good)... now how the keychain looks like?
*Rika aka Lil Brat*
look on page two of this post...there is a picture there
Quote from: airbrushlook on page two of this post...there is a picture there
OK! That is the final look, No changing ... correct? Good Good... ;)
Yup thats the final product....count you in for one? let me know, message me and i'll give you the total and my mailing address to send payment to.
I got the key chain recently and I am very impressed. I like the design. I was thinking of maybe getting/finding a rubber band that would wrap around the outside of the oval (I've seen them for various other key chains). I'll post back when/if I find one.
The velcro idea is cool too - so if I fail at this then I might try the velcro.
Thanks Conzar...glad you like it. Yah the rubber trim is a nice idea but i dont think you will find anything that will be made to fit it...if you do let me know.
Try bicycle inner tube ... cut off about 3/4 inch long inner tube and use it like a rubber band.
Cool.
Srinath.
yah...i was thinking maybe a rubber grommet turned inside out too....then it has a groove for it to sit in? going tonite to see if i can find anything that might work. :thumb:
well, couldnt find any grommets that would work and the inner tube thing doesnt work very well, so much for that idea.
I have a paypal account setup now....anyone else wanting one, message me and i'll give you the info. :thumb:
.
Received my keychain today. It's awesome. Great job. Thanx again. :thumb:
Thanks Steve,
Glad you lilke it.
I think i may have found a solution to the grommet idea i was talking about before for putting around the edge of the keychain. Should know in a week or so once i receive the stuff in the mail. :thumb:
Got the keychain this week. Looks good on the bike. Great job Jeff :thumb: . Thanks for getting it to me downunder! !
Thank you! I received a key chain :-)
*Brat*
Got my keychain today, looks great.
One thought on outer edge, if you could groove it, you could stretch an Oring around it, like a tire.
cool...glad you like it.
yah...i thought about that....but you really need something that wraps around the edge. I have a solution for it...but it was on backorder and I dont think i'm going to bother with it unless a bunch more people want a keychain.
anyways.....if anyone else would like one, just let me know.
Well, I haven't found the ruber band that I was looking for yet; however, I have come up with a solution.
I applied two strips of electical tape to the back of the key chain. I cut off excess trim so that the tape conformed to the back of the keychain. I place the keychain face up on handle bars so that there is no metal on metal action. Seems to work well and its cheap :)
so...i take it as there is really no one interested in the belt buckles? cuz i'd be down for one if there was enough interest to warrant making them...
- alex
Doesnt look like there's too much interest in the buckle idea...i'd say i need at least a dozen people that want one for sure before i would start the mold process for something like that and i'm guessing the price would be around $20-25 Cdn.
meh...
c'mon ppl get buckles!!
- alex
Got my keychain yesterday, looks great, thanks alot!
Please count me in!
I PM'd you with the details Teecegirl...
I can also do engraving on the backside of them now for a few bucks extra, for those interested in that.
Jeff - it came today in the mail. Looks great! Thanks.
PM ed :guns: U!
Airbrush if you did end up making a belt buckle what price could you do it for?
i mentioned it earlier on this page...scroll up. Not likely it will get done, not enough interest in it.
If you put a price on it maybe more people would be interested in it.
P.S. you rock for coming up with the key chain idea. :thumb:
;) yup...i did state a price for em
id like one if youd pm the info
:)
I'm really late in posting this (was out of town a lot last month), but ... my keychain came a few weeks ago and I'm REALLY happy with it. I had my nickname engraved on the back, so it's even more special to me.
Thanks again for doing this!! What a wonderful idea. I highly recommend them!
Are you still making keychains?
Yup...as long as i'm still around they'll be available :thumb:
Keychains look cool. Im interested in one!
any luck on the putting something around it? Looks very cool. Def interested.
Well i found something that may or may not work...but i have to order a 100 of them, so its not worth it for me to order something that i'm not sure will work or not. If you're worried about it scratching up the fork bridge, then you can put a dot of velcro on the back as others have done or use one of the quick disconnect keychains.
Anymore key chains available, I'd take one?
Yup, you bet...pm'd you the details.
Could you PM me the details, too?
Thanks!!

Oh well, I can try. PM sent.
I'm all out of pewter at the moment, but I will be ordering some more in a couple of weeks, so I can make one for you then.
Any Updates?
yup...i'm good to go on these again for anyone that would like one. Just PM me and I will give you the payment details.
^^^
Got mine, looks sweet, and is a lot heavier then I thought. (figured it would be like a key. It's more like a hunk of metal.. probably because it is.. ;))
If you don't have one, hahahaha. ;) Get one. :icon_mrgreen:
Just wondering, what is the metal content of the pewter that you're using.
Its a lead free, jewelry grade pewter.
I'm currently out of the country until June 20th. Keychains will be available again when i'm back. :thumb:
..i'm back...keychains are available again to those interested.

PM'd you the details.
I received two key chains a few days ago. I was actually quite surprised how quickly they arrived considering it was over the holidays.
Hi, please pm me the keychain detail so i can order one.
Thanks
I would prefer plastic so my triple does not get scratched
Not available in plastic.
I dont keep any keys other than my ignition in place when riding...keys will scratch your triple as well. I use a detachable key chain...thats the only way you're going to avoid scratches. You can find them anywhere you get keys cut.
