Title: DIY can trouble
Post by: weaselnoze on November 26, 2004, 04:04:53 PM
so i got my wileyco can from ebay and the adapter from srinath.  the can came with three bolts and three washers and a gasket.  obviously the can has three holes for the bolts.   the bolts should go through the adapter plate and screw into the can right?  well there are no threads on the can.  just 3 holes.  so how do i attach the adapter to the can?  anyone else have the same set up?  i can take pictures if u dont know what im talkin about

I'm expecting my Wileyco can from ebay in a couple of days and srinath is shipping me an adapter soon.  As soon as they come in I'll let you know.

Oh crap... all the ones I bought had threads ... You might be better off calling them and raising hell, Yes scratches, not no threads ... and they better not make you pay shipping... after charging you $12 to ship when its closer to 7-8 bucks. Now just between you and me ... in a pinch we can tap it ... total pinch though... cos stainless doesn't tap very easy ... damn near break your arm... but its small enough that you might be able to.
Cool.

Which one works with Srinrath's flange?  Or do you buy the whole thing from Srinrath?  I was looking at the Dennis Kirk  stuff on ebay, but wasn't sure which can you guys are using.

go through the guy on ebay.  its his fault, selling as 'scratch and dent' not... 'scratch, dent, and no threads'

OK, My curiosity is satisfied... DK is supposedly reputable... so call and bring the roof down, and make them replace it free ... In case they dont ... just get a tap that will fit the holes, I believe the bolts are 8 dia 1.0 pitch thread ... common metric size ... Just get a tap and a handle and some cutting oil, and set off to work ... a vise wont even be useable ... just set it on the table and have someone hold it steady... and be patient...
Cool.

Hey that 96-99 can also has threads ... I got one of those too, no problem, they all have threads ... no sense having a flange can with no threads ...
Cool.
