Title: Help with the battery?
Post by: abronco1 on November 30, 2004, 07:23:35 PM
So I took my old battery out to replace it (due to over charging and frying it).  And  my brother in-law helped me to winterize it, well some how either I'm missing a bolt, etc.  But, my nut that goes into the battery cable hole (to physically connect the battery to power the bike) no longer tightens.  So my question is this:  Does anybody know the size of nut/the parts needed to reconnect?  I took the battery out once before and put it back with no problem so I'm baffled to as why the nut is not tightening now.

On most motorcycle batteries that bolt screws into a metal chunk that fits inside the post. I always used to drop mine when I was taking that battery in and out. Finally, I got in the habit of replacing the bolt immedialtely after removing the wires. If one post is tightening take out the bolt and look at it, you will see the difference.

If you are lucky you can crawl around and find it.

Thanks for the reply!  Yah, I found a bolt on the ground, but as far as I can tell, it's too big....I'd "really" have to force it in there in order to get it underneath the area you are referring to.  I figured that the problem was something like this.  Again thanks for the reply!
