Post by: Jukka85 on December 01, 2004, 03:58:42 AM
Sorry about my very bad english, but i need help. I want to raise the tail of my gs500f, 'cause i started to build streetfighter. I have no idea if it is possible, but at least i going to try.

Then i would need crash gage or something to protect my bike, cause most of the time i ride like this:

Get a longer shock.  The Kat shock I swapped in made the tail higher.  I didn't measure how much higher for the tail, but my seat height went up by about 1+ inch.  So, I guess the tail light must have been higher by 3 inches or more.

Get a shorter dog bone (OK, dog bones, since you need a pair).  I made a longer dog bone to lower my seat height after putting in the Kat shock.  I don't recall exactly how much shorter, but I think my rough calculation gives

increase in seat height ~= - 3 x (increase in dog bone length)

So, about 3 times in the opposite direction, i.e., longer dog bone, lower seat height.  I am talking about seat height, of course.  I would guess the tail height would increase by 2 or 3 times the seat height.  Also keep in mind that you can only vary the dog bone so much before Bad Things [TM] happen.

My $0.02.  HTH.

Cheers,
