Title: '04 Akropovic Slipons?
Post by: Aznboytpk on December 03, 2004, 01:45:57 AM
www.starcycle.com has titanium and carbon Akropovic Slipons in their listings.

Like how Newportcycleparts had it on theirs.

Just called starcycle and they said they dont have prices in the system on them because they dont carry them at the store.

Great web design team huh?

Consequently, I just called Newport Cycle Parts and their phone number has been disconected so I was unable to receive a price from thier shop.

I called Akrapovic and they told me there is no Akrapovic product specific to the GS500. Maybe some other slip-on fits, but it sure wasn't designed for the GS...

D.

What's up with this?  There are at least 4 places I found offering Akra for gs500?  Maybe there is one that is the same spec? :dunno:

I've found four place online that list a slip-on for 2004.  However, I haven't called because I am not ready to buy.  When i found the sites I was only researching exhaust options, and that was a few months ago.

My point is, I have seen it listed on four different online retailers' sites, Starcycle being ONE of them.  I was merely suggesting that perhaps these four retailers (a rather small number overall, don't you think?) may have known of the demand for GS exhaust and found a model that fits and then adverised it as a 2004 slip-on so, oh, I don't know...people who are looking for it might actually find it?

How is that BS?

www.starcycle.com
www.newportcycles.com

those two are the ones i know of.  i already called both, they said there isn't such a thing as an akra slip on for the '04 gs.  they also list jardine full exhaust, although when asked about it, jardine no longer makes it.  go figure...seems like false advertisement to me.

i'll give all of them a call again (when they open) it doesn't look promising...  :(

and what's up with buymoto.com...it doesn't look like it's a fully functioning site...

this is all  :bs:  :bs:  :bs:

on the bright side, even if this slip-on exist it'll be around $500. that's alot of dough! i don't think it's worth it to put it on a gs...

jk...i just think there are much cheaper alternatives...srinath, where's my pipe?!!?

Why don't you ask them about it?

http://www.buymoto.com/index.asp?PageAction=Custom&ID=2

I still find it odd that several different dealers are listing a slip-on that doesn't exist.  I mean, I could see if it was one, but several?

ok, i couldn't resist so i called buymoto.com...first, their website is not complete done yet. as for the exhaust, it doesn't exist. no surprise there. the sales rep that i spoke to said he'll look for any other slip-on that may exist for gs but we already know he won't find any.

i'm not even going to bother calling other places as few others have already done so. i think this thread is pretty much dead...

ok, i was wrong...buymoto called me right back and told me about the cobra exhaust. since it wasn't listed for 04 model, he had even called cobra to find out for sure...

at least they have an excellent customer service.

Cobra sucks!

Did they happen too mention *why* they have a non-existant exhaust advertised on their site?

I'm going to call all three and ask why they are advertising something that doesn't exist and then call akra and Buddha Loves You too.

From what i have found out:

Akra was going to produce one, hence the part nmbers and listings on various sites.  It was in development
For whatever reason, (cheap GS owners?) they are apparently not putting it into production.

Therefore that leaves the folowing:

Cobra slip-on=junk
Jardine slip-on--questionable availability/quality
Vance and Hines full system=very good
Remus Grand Prix full stainless system with titanium, carbon, or aluminum can=best, but about $650-$700 as opposed to $250-$300 for V&H.

This one is probably better than Yoshimura and is made in Germany.  You get what you pay for.....
