Title: hair style - helmet?
Post by: duma on December 04, 2004, 03:47:31 AM
im thinking of getting my hair really short or leave them really long so that after i have taken out the helmet, i wouldnt be worrying about having a messed up head.  but i duno, do all riders do this?  i always gel my hair and slick back, but i guess i cant do it anymore?  what did yall do?

The bandana will also keep your helmet from smelling like duck cheese  :?

I keep mine Marine-Short, big advantage is two seconds to dry it from the shower.

start combing your hair forward, go bald, or keep it long.
I brush mine forward the days I ride and spike it when I don't.  Hair is about an inch and a half  to  two inches long and faded.

The messy style is in these days so I don't think it really matters. I guess hair going every which way is cool apparently. My girlfriend likes it

definitely bandana..  I spike my hair, then put a bandana on, slap my helmet no, and when I take off my helmet and bandana, my spikes are still in tact.  If you want, you can also wear those half beanies..  always work for me, xept sometimes, gives me that islamic terrorist look...  but yea, I'd go bandana

u spike ur hair, put a badana on, put a helmet on.  then when u take the helmet off, take the badana off, ur hair is still spiky?  how is that possible?  i mean wouldnt the badana and the helmet ruin ur gel?  :)

I used to have a nice two-foot long mane... that ended up getting horribly tangled every time I went for a ride. So... I chopped it all off. How's that for dedication? Three years growing nice hair... two weeks on a bike to make me get rid of it. :-p Its still longish, by guy standards (almost chin length), but i carry a comb with me and its pretty low maintanance.

screw all you guys, at the rate I am loosing my hair I will be bald by the time I am 28, and I'm only 23.

I've always kept mine short. Zero sides, three top. Combed foward. Sometimes I wear a bandana, especially if it's going to be hot, to keep my helmet from smelling bad mostly, but if my hair's a little longer it helps keep it flat.

I just let mine lay forward, 2 on the sides and the back, and short on top, if i just get it cut, i can manage to gel it and take the helmet off and be fine. If its a little longer, i just let it lay forward. No big deal.

I have decently long hair that i just trow back in a low ponytail. It does fine. Maybee you should try some of that thick goop alot of punkers use for their mohawk.

If you walk into the bar wearing your motorcycle jacket then it's ok to have messy hair.  Just make sure that the girl that you have your eye on sees your motorcycle jacket, then she won't care that you have messy hair because chicks dig guys with bikes, period.

I cut it with a 2 or 3 on the sides and back...a 4 or 5 on the top.  I spike it with gel in the AM and if I stop somewhere and actually care what I look like...I'll head into the bathroom or grab a water bottle and wet it down a bit...gel comes back and it spikes...a little.

It's true but a lot of bars won't let you in with your helmet because it's a 'weapon''

Yeah it's strange but some guy thought it would be a good idea to pick a fight with one of my buddies...the guy pulled out a knife and my friend beat the crap out of him with his helmet...now we've not allowed to bring helemts into almost every bar in the area. Jerks. And I've really never had any trouble with my bat ... it's usually the pre-broken beer bottle that I like to carry around.

My second thought about this thread is: motorcycle riding to a bar?  :? I hope you're sipping soda with your bad hair.

Thirdly: I just bring a hat when I ride.

And lastly: Kerry, I LOVE that ad!  :thumb:

It seems that most of you are talking about a boys hair cut.  Are there any females or guys that know females that ride?  What do they do with their hair?   ;)

If you have long hair and leave it exposed to the wind without braiding it, you will look like Bob Marley in a matter of seconds...or if you're a female you'll look like Whoopi Goldberg...

This is what my hair looks like after it's been exposed to the wind for a while.   :dunno:  It's not terribly long, but it's long enough for a couple of inches to be wind-exposed.  I get a bit of helmet-head on top, but c'est la vie.

Messy hair is just a sneak preview of what you look like when you get bed head.  You don't worry about what your hair looks like while you're finally getting what you were trying to get with your sexy hair style, do you?

HER: "Oh baby, I love what your doing to me!  I just want to run my fingers thru your sexy hair!"

YOU: "WOAH! HEY! Not the hair!  Don't touch the hair!  Do you know how long I spent styling it this morning???"

HER:  "Awwww...Come on baby!"

YOU:  "OH, alright....You can run your fingers thru my hair..."

HER: "EWWWWW!  It's all sticky and grosss!  What is that?  GEL???? I'm sorry, I just can't be with a man who uses gel!"

i do .  if a girl is checking you out, of course you need to look good when you take off the helmet.

its like looking at a girl with long hair from behind who looks hot only to find out she has a buttah face when she turns around.   :?

I dont care about my hair. I'm letting it grow out and I'll just put a half-beenie on and that usually does the trick.

Mine is about shoulder length, with loose layers.  The long parts aren't a problem as the helmet keeps it in place, but the layers in the front blow around under the face shield and get in my eyes and nose. It drives me nuts. I may try a bandana in the spring just to keep those bits from tickling the hell out of my face.

I do have bad helmet hair when I take the helmet off. For a picture, go to:
http://www.bikepics.com/pictures/234631/

(Pic of the bike is here http://www.bikepics.com/pictures/234360/)

There's nothing I can do about it. If it were shorter it would be more controllable but at this length it's gonna look really flat when I take the helmet off.
