Title: GSXR Exhaust Question
Post by: ponchopirate on December 08, 2004, 01:34:16 PM
So I just got a stock exhaust can dirt cheap on ebay off a 2002 GSXR 1000 and I have couple questions.  Is it practical to assume I can find some way to attach it to my bike?  Will one of Srinath's adapter's from his cans work?  How much does this can breath?  In other words, when I rejet does anyone have any suggestions as to what size main jet to use (I also have a Uni foam filter that I'll be dropping in the stock air box).  Thanks!

the carbs have 150 main and 40 pilots.....it's a good can for the setup

Sweet!  Did you just hack your stock muffler off near the weld and then weld the GXSR can on?

You can definitely do just that.  If you will notice, GRU had to make a hanger bracket, because apparently the stock hanger was incompatible with the new can.  So there will be little issues like that but if your handy with a welder and a sawzall, pretty simplistic.

I would have hacked the header pipe 2-3 inches off the weld on the bottom of the motor and made mt mid pipe from there ... If you want that ready made ... I can send you a hole less flange and mid pipe ... or send me a exhaust gasket and I'll drill it for that ... But My flange is round ... I cant cut that wavy pattern ... OK I may be able to do a square flange ... the round one is thick ... like 3/16+ inch thick ... cutting it ... nope ... Might as well do square ...
Cool.
Srinath.
