Title: one off...
Post by: pixelmonkey on December 12, 2004, 07:46:53 PM
after purchasing and riding your bike for a few miles, almost every rider wants to personalize their bike...

cut the rear fender
new exhaust
better air cleaner
different turn signals...

and then there are the few that dont hold limits to $300 or less

new body kit
different seat
different swing arm
forks / brakes from a different bike

so if you had the tools and time, would you attempt to do a one-off to your GS body?

the reason i'm asking is i have access to all the tools, all of the oil clay i can make *just requires a few dollars out of my pocket* .  i've spoken to a sculpture instructor that will likely let me apply this to a project for the next semester... so i'm starting to sketch a few layouts, taking measurments on the current sub frame area, and wondering if i should attempt to make a fuel tank with more defined edges then the current tank on the 96

if you have time tools and reason... why not?

I think I would do something with the tail, or make a lower air dam.  Ultimate would be some sort or a cool lookin full fairing, but that might be a bit much for your project.  I would have to probley go with the tail modification.  Heres an example of one with an R1 tail, forgot who's it was on the board.

I like the looks of it.

sprint_9:  definitely a very sexy bike. . .if it fit perfectly without any further fitting required, i would have had an r6 tail a long time ago. . .definitely one of the 'grail' mods that i want done to my 'f'

cheers,

Monkey dude, if you pay for the shipping, i have a subframe cut right at the main frame parts ( cut on MAIN FRAME side of welds) if you want you can mount it to a stand and make it easyer to move around.  i'll donate it for the cause.

Title: Someone please

OK would someone please check into a 99-00 Honda F4/i's tail ... it will fit the GS and look better than the R6 one ... the problem with R6 tail ... the view from top ... the tail is too fat ... may be wider than the tank ... the F4i is narrower and has better lines IMHO ... I have F4 street tail ... a race tail with full pan is needed for easier fit.
Cool.
