LIGHTLY bottom out then back out 2.5 turns - although most on this site have found 3 turns a better place to start

i gotta say that i prefer 2.5 turns out....maybe even 2.75 but 3 is a little too rich for my bike....that's with the 150 mains

but yeah, screw them in and then back out the amount you want

Gru, what kind of symptoms convinced you that 3 turns ran too rich?  I went for my first ride yesterday and I noticed some gurgling sounds while I was riding.

i liked the throttle response at 2.5...it was quicker...also on a hot day and 3 turns it would run soft (too rich)...when i had it at 2.5 turns i would run about .3 sec quicker on the 1/4 mile than 3 turns
Title: idle

Idle when cold should be just a shade below the idle when hot ...
Say 1200 when cold and 1300 if hot ... riding ... jetting is dependent on throttle position ... no real effect of mix screw should be felt when you are riding it under load ... I ahve had it so rich that I shut the throttle when its warmed up and it will attempt to idle at 500 rpm and then die ... once under load ... no problem.
If its too rich at idle ... you blip the throttle let go and the rpm's drop to like 500 ... and seem to stay there a few seconds and then slowly creep back to 1100 ... or die at 500 ... both = rich ... dying is richer than crepping back to 1100 ...
Cool.
