Title: Any 2004 owners that have rejetted their carbs...
Post by: acoder on December 21, 2004, 01:50:32 PM
There are so many posts about rejetting that searching the site for answers ends up with too many confusing posts.

I've got and '04 GS500F that I'm getting ready to rejet.
I've got a WileyCo performance can with a Srinath flange and K&N RU-2970 pod intake filter that I will be installing at the same time I rejet.

Going by the rejetting matrix... http://www.angelfire.com/mt2/mikesgs500/rejetting/Rejetting_Matrix.html
I was going to get 22 pilots, 65 mid-mains, and 147/150 mains.
In talking with Srinath he feels that I need 20 pilots, 62.5 mid-mains, and 150 mains.  That is what I'm planning to order.

But if anyone has actually rejetted their '04 I'd like to know what jets and settings worked for you.
I'm especially interested if you've got a set-up similar to what I'm going to (i.e. performance exhaust and pod style airfilters).

Thanks,
Roy

interesting link. bookmarked.. got to put it in the FAQ.

I am going to fix teh jetting on my bike later on this week. I have mine in my sig.. but i think i need bigger jets or something cause im leaning out at higher speed..

i will put in new jets first, if that fixes it, then i will go as that my suggestion.

Though i really want to put shims under the needle, but the problem is i have to get help to lift the fuel tank..

My new jets came in yesterday, will be picking them up today. I ordered the same jets that The_Good_Guy shows in his link. Will be running a Wileyco SS and a UNI Drop in. Hoping to do the jetting and get the exhaust installed next week. After ordering and researching more, I think that the 137.5 mains may be too small, not sure though, will have to test.

For a UNI ...  1 up from stock mains is all you'd need ... for a K&N RU-2970 6 up I guess, but that mid main might be adding 1 size so ... 5 up ...
Cool.
Srinath.

For my stock '04 I went with:
#20 pilots
#62.5 mids
#132.5 mains
Plus 2 #4 washers under the needles.

Runs like a champ, for the GS that is.

with a pipe and an airbox or pods I'd go with at least #150 like srinath was saying, he's the local pro...

Best of luck
