ok, I know you all always talk about how much redoing the front suspension on th gs makes a difference but I never imagined how much. the wife and I went to lowes today grabbed a set of 1/2 inch pvc endcaps and came home and went to work. total time was about 1.5 hrs(because we had to go back to lowes and get a 1/2 inch ratchet extension I thought I had). I took the bike out for a ride and I gotta say, WOW. Huge difference. I thought the klunk klunk clatter clatter klank pow was just something we had to live with. but I guess not. Thanks again ya'll. as always your wealth of gs knowledge is much appreciated. P.S. we got a sv650 rear shock on it's way. we'll let you know how that install goes. thanks again.
I only just joined the forum at X-Mass so although this is an old topic to everyone else it's all news to me, could someone please direct me to the thread on how half inch pvc end cap's help the front suspention :dunno:
Mine are stock and a sponge cake would have more firmness :(
Over on the main page of GStwin are some links to modification projects.
This one (http://www.gstwin.com/making_fork_spacers.htm) refers to using nylon cylinders to preload the springs to firm up the response.
I believe the author of this post is referring to the GStwin post. Another, this (http://pantablo500.tripod.com/pablosgs500page/id2.html) page, of one of the GStwin moderators is a good model. Although it specifically uses progressive springs in that mod, the idea is the same.
