Title: peg clearence
Post by: Trackman114 on December 27, 2004, 08:49:12 PM
I was just wondering if anyone has drug there knee with the stock pegs still on.  I am just a little concerned with the clearence because they are big pegs.

i have never draged my knee in a corner but the footpeg will drag on the ground when you corner hard, if that's what you're asking

Ive had my foot touch down before, never my knee though I usually keep it tucked pretty tight.  Having your foot touch down will get your attention real quick.

I dragged my CFM turning on a public street about a week ago, scared the hell outta me. (well it was either that or the base of my exhaust) I'm to scared to stick my knee out, guess I should invest in some riding pants now huh?

Well, I never managed to get either my knee or the pegs to drag on the ground with my GS. I did however manage to  get the pegs down with a 2003 Fazer 600.

So I guess the peg clearance on the GS is pretty good.

   D.

PS: Ok, I lied - once on a race track with my GS I had a little slide wich resulted in my left peg hitting the ground - luckilly, I was slow (it was the tightest corner) and right after that the wheel got grip back and I got off lucky.

I was at a trackday in Dec. with the stock pegs and "yes" the pegs will drag before your knee touches the ground.  In fact I was bounced off because my peg grabbed the ground and my back tire went airbourne.

And I want to add that Srinath's case savers are "AWESOME".  My bike started sliding at 50 mph for about 75 ft. or so before it hit grass and the case savers did the job.  Thanks Srinath.
