Title: engine weight
Post by: dane_lindsay on January 02, 2005, 08:21:50 PM
random question ,but i just bought an engine and am trying to calculate shipping. does anyone know the weight, and/or general dimensions of the crated engine? i guessed 130lbs with the crate, and 3.5ftx3.5x3.5, but shipping through freight101.com was so high i figured i'd check with the guru/expert/god people. it's from New Mexico to Ga,, any ideas on who to ship with would be helpful.
thanks

Try FedEx Ground, I've shipped a couple engines through them with no problems.  Depending on how you pack the motor it should weigh 140-148lbs.  I used a household scale to measure mine and it came out very close on the FedEx scales.  FedEx has a 150lb limit on ground service.

It should also cost you no more than $80 or so.  But you must ship to a commercial address.
