Title: Frame Paint?
Post by: Nick U on January 05, 2005, 07:42:28 PM
I have a 1998 GS and my frame has some minor rust that I am currently removing. Does anybody know where I can get the rattle can paint for it?

No, mine's rust colored with silver flakes here and there.  What causes these silver parts?

I have seen frames repainted ... this dude did an immaculate job ... He said he used lacquer like 4 super light coats and 3 coats of clear on it ... dude was a maniac... bike was pretty though ... had a bit of overspray on some parts like engine bolts ... but the rest was a beauty ...
Cool.

I copied this down from a post when I got my bike, and it really does match my '94 almost exactly.

QuoteI have a 2000 and I have found a can of spray paint that I feel matches pretty well. I bought it at a Lowes home center. It is "American Tradition" by Valspar. Interior/Exterior Ultra Enamel. Look for a grey cap with the word FLAT on it. Then look on the back where the UPC is. It should say 165887 ALUMINUM. I did some work on my frame with it and I cant really tell where it stops and the normal frame begins

Can't really tell where I have touched it up, it's at least a good way to get by until you can repaint the whole frame.

I found a near perfect match in the touch up paint section at Autozone.  I believe it was a Honda silver, I'll check and post in a bit
