Title: New leathers!
Post by: dyran on January 07, 2005, 08:17:24 PM
I am SO HAPPY, I just got the best deal ever, I went  to the Toronto motorcycle show and I was looking for a Teknic Speedstar 2 piece suit or an Alpinestar Venom 2 piece suit, both which retail for 1600$ canadian, so I check out the bikes, some of them awesome (only one gs but I was talking to a cute girl who was sitting on it  and I guess I convinced her to buy it as she called the sales guy over, wrote a check and phone a friend to come pick it up...hopefully she'll remember this website) anyhow back to the leather... I found a set of the alpinestars for 30% off list, not a bad deal but not great either so I moved on to see if I could find a better deal. After a nice tour of the rest of the show I had not found anything comparable to this suit so I walked back to buy it...and out of no where I saw a Teknic Speedstar suit hanging on a rack there was only one suit left and it was a prefect fit, so I asked the guy the price $599!!!! So I now have one of the sexiest get ups ever a red, white and black suit, black and silver race boots and a Hot Wheels Shoei helmet. It's funny but all in all the protective stuff cost about the same as the bike. Any how that's my exciting news for the day and as soon as I get a digital camera in the vecinity of my suit I will post it....oh I am so excited and can't wait for this snow to melt!

Sweet deal!  :thumb:

Don't forget to de-magnetize the suit before you ride.  ;)

Wow, nice find

I purchased my first and only leathers (Teknic 2pc Chicane, black)
on ebay from www.newenough.com They were size 38 so there wasn't too many interested buyers. Overall, I probably ended up saving 50% off retail. Granted, they are not in the same league as the leathers you bought, but I plan on using them for my first trackday coming in February.

I really like the Teknic brand and am very pleased with their quality, looks, and fit. I plan on getting matching gloves and boots soon. I am trying to find a good deal on their Teknic Lightning boots, but everyone keeps praising/recommending the Sidi brand. So, I might spend the extra money and get me a real racing boot. I already own their backpack, but what I REALY want is the Teknic Spider jacket, which converts from

for all-weather, year round riding. That would be Sweet!

I think I'm going to be getting a 2-piece suit by HJC pretty soon. My friend has one, and its super nice and comfy... and it looks hot :) Pretty good on the armor/protection side too... my friend has had his about a year and went down in it... no stitching broke, just some light scuffing on the leather, and the armor did its job; my friend was uninjured.

MY problem is that I"m tall and super skinny (well, not SUPER skinny, but more so than most), and most people just dont make stuff that fits me right. I'm trying to bulk up a bit (muscle wise).. makes more sense than buying custom leathers... and it will make me a better rider, I think.

MY dream is still a nice set of Dainese leathers. Maybe after I get a new bike. Heh.

Yeah, the Toronto Motorcycle Supershow is great -- the best place to get sweet deals on clothing and accessories I've found.  I went the past two years as it was always on the weekend after New Years and doubled it with a trip to visit relatives.  With New Years falling on a weekend, well, you know the rest.

Now that is something a lot of us are hoping for.   :)  (lend us your snow shovel when you're done? :)   )

Great looking suit.   :thumb:   I believe the one-piece is far better than a two-piece if you have "an off".  If not attached, two-piece can separate and guess where the road-rash ends up.

If anyone is curious about the Toronto show, it runs today and tomorrow.  There's also an April 17-18 event.  Read about both at Toronto Supershow Events (http://www.supershowevents.com/).

No it's not that one, it's the 2003? version and it is 2 piece with carbon fiber shoulder and knee cap thingys...I'll always do it up but  it's nice to be able to take off the jacket and leave the pants on when you're off the bike...all I can say is damn I look hot in them, I'm going to pick up all the ladies...or just one would do ;)

I will post the pictures of me when I get a digital camera and myself in leathers at the same place and time but in the mean time here is what they look like, mine are red, white and black and only very slightly different .
