Title: front tire ?
Post by: jmpowie on January 09, 2005, 12:05:02 PM
I just bought a 1990 gs500e for my girl friend to ride in the spring.  As I am cleaning it up I found the tire is rubbing on the sides of the fender.  It has a 110/80 b17 on it.  Is this tire to big for the bike?  The tire looks almost new so it would be a shame to buy a new one. thanks

I've run several different 110/80 fronts on my 97 GS.  Only one of them touched and rubbed on the acorn nuts on the screws that hold the mud flap to the bottom of the fender.  I simply turned the screws around with the flat head inside and the acorn nuts on the outside.  Gave plenty of clearance.

If it's rubbing somewhere else on the fender, it must be out of alighnment.  Loosen the screws on top of the fork brace and straighten the fender up.
