Title: Well aint this great!!
Post by: 96gs on January 09, 2005, 07:47:56 PM
So I went for a ride today with my Dad and a buddy named Sam. We go out and do a lil twisty stuff .. the Katana shock is a miracle .. well some of my family is thinkin bout moving. so we go to see the property, only to find 2 1/2 miles of DIRT road. OK not so bad. we start goin and there is this huge turning hill that has more bumps then a bag full of rocks. tires slip a lil but i recover. So we get to this really narrow road. We head down and there is thick mud. OK my Dad goes through the first pit on his Shadow Spirit 1100, I go through on my bike, then Sam goes through on his Harley Fatboy. We come to this big 10 foot puddle. My dad goes through and makes it.  I go .. front tire slips and out of instinct I stop, my left foot slips and i just give the bike all the gas it has. I mean mud is flyin and back tire slippin and slidin. The back end shoots around and just falls. I start cursin and beatin myself up. BTW this was the first time I dropped it. So I realize its in mud and i wasn't even movin so nuthing got hurt but a bruised ego. We get our laughs and I pick up the bike. Now I'm thinking, how the hell am I going to get this front tire out of a foot of mud. So my Dad comes over, Sam comes over, they pick the bike up, literally, and move it over then we push it out. Well we get to the property and its just beautiful. Then we came home. So, I got my first drop after 1 1/2 years on this bike, and thankfully it was in the mud so all I have to do is wash it, but it needed it anyways so its all good. OK I'm done, just thought I would share my day. Later.

Sorry 96...but glad all is well.  Another reason to like the city.....no mud or quicksand.  Though occasionally there is a pothole deep enough to build a missile silo in.  Motorcycling is dangerous at worst....and messy at it's almost best.... :?

Well .. the ride is a little more bumpy .. but there was this 90 degree turn i took on a road here .. got it up to 40 and just dipped it in and hit the throttle all the way .. by the time I exited the turn i was doin maybe 50. It felt really stable and the back end didnt feel like it was going to slip out. On another turn .. it was one of those yeild turns thats 90 degrees but nothin was comin .. so i got it up to 70 .. dipped in .. hit the throttle and got up to around 80 and I was surprised how stable it felt .. massive lean angle on that one. It also gave me more confidence on the first turn because how it was.
